RockOolong teas, QiDan or Xiao Hong Pao, frm @sevencups in Tucson, Az... when I lived in Tucson we went to the tea house regularly and always kept some in the kitchen. Now I order it by mail, will always miss the Tea House.

The purple leaf palace cooked puer (紫娟宮廷) starts out earthy, as many dark teas (黑茶) do, but develops an increasingly stronger melon flavor with each steeping. By the time the brew is little more than grey water due to so many repeat steepings, the melon flavor is intense.

I am enjoying more purple leaf palace cooked puer (紫娟宮廷), a kind of dark tea (黑茶), from Seven Cups (@sevencups) and is that melon flavor ever coming through loud and clear. The brew looks weak but the melon flavor is strong.

Could include wild trees.
Gap in pure China wild ancestors germ plasm is what authors acknowledge.
More data will surely answer validate some of the current domestication hypothesis.

That's why I have had a gaiwan (蓋碗) at work for about 9 years (maybe longer): it is really convenient.
I've even had a travel gaiwan (蓋碗) set for hiking.
Clearly, #tea travels with me without the bags.
It's surprising that more people haven't discovered gaiwans (蓋碗) yet.
