Founder, @openchowng. I once called 112 because I needed food. Now I’m building a system to make sure people can eat without having to beg.

Back in university, I was going through hell, like usual. One day I walked into the cafeteria hoping someone might invite me to eat. I wasn’t begging. You know how sometimes a friend sees you and says, “Come, join us.” Unfortunately, no one did. So I turned around and started walking back to the hostel. Just as I got close to the school gate, my phone buzzed. I had received ₦7,000. I froze. At the time, I never received that kind of money unless I had been running errands for other students. But this transfer came from someone who had already graduated. I flashed him, and he called me back. He said, “NYSC just paid me ₦30,000, and I thought of you.” My body became weak. I slowly sat down beside the security men at the gate and cried quietly. Then I got up, walked back to the cafeteria, and finally ate. These are the memories that keep pushing me to build openChow. I spent more time in university worrying about where my next meal would come from than actually studying. No student should have to carry that burden. That’s why I’ll do everything in my power and beyond to make sure openChow succeeds. And through it all, I’ll never stop believing in the kindness of good friends.

The patience and detail that went into this is mind blowing. The investigation is really impressive as well.

If Black people can’t resist taking entire buckets of free Halloween candy, what makes you think our politicians in Africa would behave any differently when they’re entrusted with billions in public funds? I feel the Black man’s greed is biological, not learned.

I think it’s our human ego that makes us believe life continues after death. We struggle to accept that something as intelligent and significant as us could simply cease to exist. So we invented imaginary places like heaven and hell to make the idea of death easier to swallow.

There's a strange thing that happens online and in real world conversations, where understanding or explaining an idea or phenomenon is interpreted as SUPPORTING it. As a result, people pretend to not understand things, lest they be seen as advocating them.

It was October 2017. Professor Ike Ibe offered me a scholarship to study any course of my choice at his university. I almost fell to my knees when he said it. That scholarship changed my life. He even used to teach us Entrepreneurship on Sundays. Rest in peace, Professor 🕊️

Why does it feel like men and women hate each other more than ever in 2026? Everyone is becoming more suspicious of love and commitment. Who’s benefiting from this gender war. Movies, social media, everything seems to fuel the hatred. What are they trying to sell us?

The TV show “Carrie 2026” on Prime is promoting hatred towards men.
