This morning on BBC Breakfast, Nigel Farage said he had received “zero help from the state” with his security.
Yet reports say he had previously received publicly funded protection and was offered a taxpayer-funded package including a bodyguard, a secure car and a trained driver.
So why did he lie?
If he means he is not currently using state-funded protection, or that he turned it down, he should say that. “Zero help from the state” leaves out the offer he rejected.
Then there is the £5 million gift from a foreign-based crypto billionaire Christopher Harborne. In May, he called it an unconditional “reward” for 27 years of campaigning for Brexit.
Why did he lie again?
There is nothing wrong with rejecting a security offer if he believes it is unsuitable. There is nothing inherently wrong with accepting a genuine gift in recognition of his Brexit campaigning.
But when the explanations keep shifting—and a claim of “zero help” omits an offer he rejected—it creates doubt and undermines trust. Public life depends on honesty. People deserve a straight answer.

Well, let’s just say this is not a humanitarian act.
NO! It certainly isn’t.

Russian ballistic missiles struck the grounds of a university in Kyiv and the area around it – effectively the campus, Kyoto Park, the area near a metro station, and residential buildings. The exact number of casualties is not yet known. But tragically, there are victims. There are people injured. Rescue operations are underway. There is extensive damage, and there are also reports that people may be trapped under the rubble. All emergency services are at the scene and doing their work – saving lives. The missiles hit very crowded areas, and there is not a single military facility nearby. This was a strike directly on the city, on its infrastructure. Unfortunately, there may be more strikes coming. The attack with “shaheds” is also continuing – against Kyiv and our other cities and communities.
And it is precisely under such circumstances, when the threat is constant, when strikes can come at any moment and target cities and villages directly, that artificial delays in providing air defense to Ukraine help terror. It is important that political agreements be implemented promptly at the team level. It is important that our partners understand that Ukraine needs the proper tools to destroy Russian ballistic missile launchers. This would be the most effective way to save lives. It is important that the world sees that Russia is showing nothing but a desire to kill and continue waging war. Ukraine must not be left to face this alone, and it is solely Russia’s fault that the war is still going on and people are still dying. Please take care of yourselves. All partners should stand with Ukraine – with the protection of lives.

Putin says Ukrainian land belongs to Russia because of history. But what happens when we apply his logic to Russia itself?
On October 22, Putin once again claimed that Ukrainian territories are historically Russian.
“This is not their territory. It’s the territory of historical Russia,” he said.
Interesting argument. Let’s apply the same logic to Russia.
🇯🇵 Japan: The Soviet Union seized the southern Kuril Islands in 1945. Japan still claims four of those islands, which Russia controls today.
🇨🇳 China: Vladivostok and large parts of Russia’s Far East were once under China’s Qing dynasty. Russia acquired these territories through treaties in the 19th century.
🇫🇮 Finland: Vyborg and parts of Karelia belonged to Finland before World War II. Finland was forced to surrender them to the Soviet Union.
🇩🇪 Germany: Kaliningrad was once Königsberg, a German city and part of East Prussia until 1945.
🇹🇷 Turkey: The Ottoman Empire once controlled Azov and held territory and influence around the northern Black Sea before Russian expansion.
So here’s a question for Putin:
Should Japan take back its islands? Should China reclaim Vladivostok? Should Finland reclaim Vyborg? Should Germany reclaim Kaliningrad?
Of course, historical possession does not automatically give any country the right to seize territory today. Most of these countries do not even make such claims.
And that is precisely the point.
If every country started invading its neighbors to recover territory it controlled centuries ago, where would it end?
Ukraine is an internationally recognized sovereign country. Russia recognized its borders.
History is not a license to invade. And Ukraine does not belong to Russia simply because Putin says it does.
Stand with Ukraine. 🇺🇦

Gent wonders why the UK isn't doing what Norway did with putting energy profits into a sovereign wealth fund.
Who's going to tell him that we've nearly exhausted all of the oil and gas in the North Sea, and that politicians preferred to extract profits rather than invest them for our national security.
That is the real failure: politicians treated a finite national resource like ordinary income.
Now they point to the small amount left as a reason to keep drilling, when the lesson should be to invest what remains and build lasting wealth through clean energy, industry and infrastructure.

Three waves of ballistic missiles have been launched at Kyiv by Russian “humanitarians” since yesterday evening. They used 21 missiles. Unfortunately, numerous sites across the city have been hit and damaged: ordinary residential buildings, energy facilities, infrastructure at one of the railway stations and the metro, shopping malls, and businesses. Even a monastery is among the damaged sites. Our emergency services are working at all the affected locations. Twelve of our regions came under Russian attack overnight. In Kyiv and across the regions, 34 people were injured, including five children. As of now, two people have been confirmed killed. My condolences to their families and loved ones.
Almost immediately after another round of talks, Russia launched a pointed attack. This means there has been no real change in its attitude toward everything that is happening. It is important to keep trying to find the right solutions to end this war. But when Russia responds to negotiations with ballistic missiles, real pressure on Russia is needed to bring about different steps – steps toward ending the killing. Stronger air defenses and the rapid delivery of missiles, the ability to destroy ballistic missile launchers, sanctions over the war – all of this must be in place. I am grateful to everyone who sees the situation for what it is and acknowledges the reality. The aggressor deserves to be treated accordingly. Ukraine deserves support. People's lives deserve protection. Thank you to everyone who stands with Ukraine!

Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff praised Vladimir Putin as a "humanitarian" during their October 21, 2026, meeting in St. Petersburg.
Witkoff commented while thanking Putin for releasing detained American Stephen Hubbard, framing it as reciprocity for describing Trump as a humanitarian, in the context of proposing trilateral Ukraine peace talks.
The statement has generated immediate criticism from across the political spectrum, coinciding with continued Russian strikes on Ukrainian civilian areas and Putin's ICC warrant for alleged war crimes.

Ukraine is not Russia. That's Putin’s problem – refusing to recognize a separate nation, refusing to recognize a separate country – that's what did him in. He was shown a military operation that was supposed to take three days. We found parade uniforms in their various military vehicles. They were literally marching to a parade. He still doesn't understand and doesn't want to admit that this is a different nation, a different people.
They were advancing on Kyiv from all directions. Their main goal was to seize the capital of Ukraine. They reached Kyiv. They trapped us, and then we started hammering them, and they didn't know what to do about it. They were especially shocked when they drove toward the capital and people were just throwing burning mixtures. People were setting their armor on fire. It wasn't a matter of some general being an idiot. I believe the one who gave the order just didn't fully realize what was happening.
Because what does taking Kyiv mean? When you've taken those towns on the way to Kyiv, you have to leave troops behind to hold those towns. And that takes a huge number of people. It's a pretty large territory. If the people inside offer resistance, then you need an army to hold every town. That was their mistake. They didn't even realize there would be resistance. That was their main mistake. That's it.

A HUMANIST?!
The man whose war has killed Ukrainian children. Destroyed entire cities. Torn families apart.
And Witkoff PRAISED him. On camera.
If this is what they say publicly, what on earth do they say behind closed doors?!
I’m speechless.
