so the other thing about factor dot ai, after you exhaust your daily/weekly/whatever quota of opus etc., it falls back on a set of non-premium models (Kimi/glm/etc.) but Kimi is doing better work than opus did. waow

new wave of mfs opening an S-1 for the first time in their life
Anthropic files S-1 for its IPO happening likely later next month! This is a huge deal, $ANT is real. Two years ago, they were the AI safety company that couldn't make money, now they're the best AI lab in the world.

loud 996 people are directionally the same as wifeguys if you know what i mean
Revolut founder Nik Storonsky says working weekends is essential to survive, calling it "purely statistical" "So China is 996. And then even if you are good in Europe or even if you are good in US, how can you outcompete people who work nine to nine, 6 days a week?" "When I started in the startup space, there were 140 companies. Within five years, only three companies survived. They all worked on weekends." "Within 10 years, only 2 companies survived out of 140. So I think work on weekends is a must if you want to survive. Purely statistical." "Out of all European companies, we're probably one of the hardest working, and I think we're also one of the hardest working companies if you include US as well."

Will say though, the speakers on the fold/duo are absolutely fantastic, PiP was very smooth but like most content is about the same size as an ~18 pro, most apps suck at taking up that real estate even if they do, whatever, at least w/ android you can fix it somewhat
They had stock still & offered to swap it "as a courtesy", the american dream store almost always has stock its insanely large w/ a fraction of the foot traffic of NYC stores, didn't really like the phone so just gave it back anyways I was hoping apple after a decade apple would have something unique to them but it felt equally if not less polished of an experience than the Samsung foldables Thought the screen was nano-etched, rather its just a matte protector & it looks just absolutely horrendous in daylight, there is def a crease, pencil doesn't go over smoothly on the crease, zero webpages support the front screen Like the number one thing for me was like oh I can get desktop twitter & a more desktop-like claude web experience but they all ship mobile versions on the inner screen for now? unless something was bugged?

I don't quite understand the hate for blank street on ethics, the coffee isn't fantastic but unionized coffee shop w/ locally sourced beans & 'fair' wages & great QoL so on People say because it's PE funded? but theres nothing inherently wrong w/ that or VC funding?

People like to pretend ownership is between public/private(Vc/pe)/some heavenly private family owned coffee roastery w/ infinite funding & incredible wages & reasonable prices & long lasting fundamentals when its like 95% of the mite public/private(Vc/pe)/mismanagement

I think most neolabs will go under, I also think most neolabs suck, because most startups suck, and most startups return nothing, to the point that the expected value of your randomly invested dollar is close to $0 its all normal, I wonder how many neolabs are just riding on reselling juicy compute contracts a little longer

Annoying how EDS, E as in Elon, has been associated w/ right-of-center enthusiasts defending each & every move (even if objectively directionally incorrect) Because there is a different, less subtle flavor of EDS, where people outwardly refuse to believe what's in front of them Like unsupervised cybercabs exist, starship exists, FSD mostly works & is wildly popular, the cars sell fairly well, Xai is not frontier but their datacenter buildout continues to be profitable & their models are acceptable Even as the most vehement hater of musk companies you have to admit they are directionally correct
"it's annoyingly clever" absolutely despise tech journalists like this, you can hate the man, the product was developed through tens of thousands of engineers & millions of man hours nobody is going to kill you for calling it a good car, its fine, live & let live, disclaimer...

COLUMN | The first and worst part of the week was being invited to sit in a Tesla Cybercab, a vehicle – I can’t call it a car – with no steering wheel and no pedals, painted in Trump Gold, which is likely to be running a Tesla Robotaxi service on Sydney’s streets by this time next year. Stephen Corby has more: bit.ly/3WpKfIt
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Tesla’s Cybercab is gold as a futuristic NYC yellow cab, per designer Franz von Holzhausen (2024). Musk called it a “golden era of transport,” with no Trump link. x.com/elonmusk/statu… teslamagz.com/tesla/robotaxi…
