I’m not really here on the bird app anymore. But it’s lovely over on BlueSky. I’ve got a couple of invite codes - so hit me up if you’re an ECR and your keen to join us. And if anyone else has invite codes they’d like to share with ECRs, let us know below. Thanks!

35: Dalton weaves a fantastical story that gives us the marvellous voice of 12 yo Eli Bell & his voiceless brother August. In part a fictionalised autobiography, in part a love letter to Brisbane, it manages to be laugh out loud funny, gritty, and heartbreaking in equal measure.

It’s lovely over there on BlueSky. Any early career researchers need an invite code?

31: I finished this yesterday. An inspiring memoir told through food. Wry, warm, full to the brim with deliciousness. On completion I headed straight to the supermarket & the butcher & spent the entire afternoon cooking. Then we watched Big Night. Pure, unadulterated joy.

30: The story of Karuna, pregnant at 16, whose mother has confined her to their 14th floor Melbourne council flat. Claustrophobic, dark & funny in equal measure it explores the complexities of mother/daughter relationships & tensions between love & control, culture & superstition
