Gleewatch ep 20. Rachel meets her birth mother and it's genuinely fraught and strange for them both. for thier meaningful mother-daughter duet They sing a slowed down sad version of... poker face by lady gaga. Absolutely psychotic television show

In the recent Bond discussion i saw complaints that old stars had masculine gravitas while today's actors don't ("white kpop singers"), but imo that's too simplistic; old stars were both pretty boys AND rugged icons of masculinity i.e. gregory peck, gary cooper, alain delon, etc

i think i prefer quinntana over pezberry bc their dynamic isn't constantly reduced to arguing about which one was the worse person. they were two ends of the same bitch-goddess spectrum

You all need to understand that there is a well-funded movement to kill Wikipedia as an institution. The dream of an internet that provided universal access to knowledge was a mirage. It threatened too many powerful people, so now we have AI summaries and illiteracy.
Because you're not as up on movies as you think? I don't know what other kind of answer you think anyone would be able to provide.
OK, I'll bite. If John Cassavetes is so insanely influential and brilliant, why have I not heard about him until recently?
I've been on a side-quest with classic and esoteric movies, mostly through the Criterion collection. I've watched dozens of Criterion closet picks from filmmakers and actors I admire.
They pick Cassavetes films ALL THE TIME. Probably more than any other director except Scorsese. I haven't seen a single Cassavetes film. I don't think I've ever heard anyone talk about a Cassavetes film outside of those videos.
I'm not a slouch on film, I've got a pretty wide spread on what I've seen & what I appreciate. How has Cassavetes slipped through that net so completely for so long?
