The front page of tomorrow's @dailytarheel –
I shed many tears while typing up these heart-wrenching text messages sent and received by UNC students yesterday. Our campus was on lockdown for more than three hours.
Beyond proud of this cover and the team behind it.

It may be that when we no longer know what to do
we have come to our real work,
and that when we no longer know which way to go
we have come to our real journey.

This was one of the most incredible wildlife encounters I’ve ever had — seen while tidepooling on the Northern California coast. (Also please enjoy the look of sheer terror on my friend 😅)

Speaking of birds, we saw them out our "window" this morning! Most notably taking off out of the Santa Cruz Mountains, Napa County, and the Monterey Bay area.

Bletchley Park was run by historians (Hinsley, Briggs), classicists (Knox, Adcock), musicologists, papyrologists, pure mathematicians (Turing, of course) — people whose degrees would fail Sunak’s test, yet who did more for this country than any number of well-paid City analysts

I have a tremendous amount of respect for Malcolm Gladwell as a prose writer. Once I start reading one of his pieces, I invariably always finish. I'm never bored. I pay attention. His essay on ketchup? Unforgettable.
That said, he is an ABYSMAL journalist.
