I’ve lost count of how many good people this movement has lost to the viciousness of FBA & their hangers on. Doxxing, harassment, attempts to get people fired, even efforts to have their children taken away. Just the vilest personal attacks imaginable. And some of y’all are STILL at it, all while bragging about what you’re supposedly “building.” We should all be open to criticism, even harsh criticism, but you can’t build a movement by destroying the people in it.

When getting what you asked for goes wrong. A 🧵 and a lesson.
Before you ask foolish questions, learn how the Albany legislative pipeline actually works. Circulating an Action Network petition for an office that doesn't exist while bragging about bills parked permanently in the Rules Committee isn't leadership. It’s performance art. 🧵👇

Legislation isn’t what you print on an Assembly letterhead to collect clicks. It’s what you can build the coalition, the economic data, and the regulatory mechanics to actually pass. We’re doing the administrative, legal, and statutory work.

Running to conservatives w/ xenophobia didn’t build power in Albany: it alienated the Caucus members & leadership. Treating an empirical framework like an anti-immigrant culture war made your faction a legislative liability that leadership keeps safely quarantined in committee.

And let’s address the spectacle: Turning state commission hearings into shouting matches where attendees storm out telling folks to "sit down with the clowns" doesn't advance lineage reparations, it turns a serious economic demand into a circus for conservative cable news.

While you circulate web forms for a "Mayor's Office of Freedmen Affairs" with zero statutory drafting behind it, ADOS AF submitted comprehensive, tailored regulatory frameworks to BOTH the NYSCCRR & NYC CORE laying out the admin apparatus for an Office of ADOS Affairs.

Real policy work happens through statutory dockets, economic modeling, and administrative law—not internet clout. While you were drafting email blasts ADOS AF NY was in direct consultation w/ the prime legislative architects behind the state reparations law dating back to 2023.

You ran an alternative task force bill (A5603) after the real, binding legislation was already the law of the land. Your own sponsor stood on the Assembly floor and voted "YES" on the state commission bill you claim to oppose. You got lapped before you even started running.

Zero co-sponsors. Zero Senate companion movement. Zero floor votes. That’s not a legislative agenda; those are symbolic marker bills printed to give online activists something to screenshot.

You hitched your entire political strategy to a single sponsor operating as an island in Assembly leadership. A5603? Died in committee. A8284 (the $50M Bureau bill)? Died in committee. A8285 (Asset Recovery)? Died in committee.

Why did A6341 pass Gov Ops & Ways & Means? B/c updating demographic drop-down menus costs the state basically $0. It’s routine admin housekeeping modeled after the AAPI law. Passing a bill w/ no price tag is easy; getting it to the floor is where your strategy hit a wall.

Let’s talk about A6341, your trophy. It’s an amendment to Exec. Law § 170-e for demographic data disaggregation. That’s it. It creates no bureau, disburses zero dollars of repair, and doesn't fund an office. Don't sell a intake form update as an institutional breakthrough.

As I said before, all talk w/ little action. Meanwhile, the U.S. Freedmen is pushing for an office Freedmen Affairs, state disaggregation, & lineage/harmed based state reparations in NY. @ADOSAFNEWYORK what bills have you introduced to a state & local legislature? Where's your calls to action. I just signed one the @USFreedmenPrj have. actionnetwork.org/letters/we…

State Rep. Angie Nixon checks most of the boxes if you review her campaign website. ✅ gentrification ✅ unemployment ✅ poverty ✅ mass incarceration ✅ homelessness ✅ anti-Black discrimination ❌ police violence 🔲 white supremacy #VoteAccordingly
