Justin Rose... what a beautiful player of the game. 18 months ago he was grinding to qualify for The Open... finished 2nd at Troon... then one putt away from a Green Jacket. Deserves a knighthood IMO.

What a career. What a golf swing. What an appetite for being better. What a role model for any aspiring pro. What a supporter of grassroots junior golf and women's pro golf! No-one "deserves" to win a major in 2026 but here's hoping Justin Rose does.

It took the last benighted Tory government 14 years to slump to a net approval rating of minus 56, which it richly deserved. But Starmer/Labour have managed to plummet to the same depths in 14 months. A breath-taking achievement. Congratulations.
