Back in 2024, funding helped us make important improvements to Hut 3, helping to preserve this historic building and enhance the experience for our visitors.
From replacing rotten timber and repainting the exterior to cleaning the interior, improving the lighting and adding new replica items, the transformation has been quite dramatic.
As an independent charity, we rely on funding, donations and support from our visitors to help us care for Bletchley Park and keep its stories alive.
Swipe to see the difference and let us know what you think of the improvements.

Bletchley Park’s Transport Section was vital.
At its height, Transport employed some 130 drivers, as well as mechanics and administrators. The car drivers were drawn from the Mechanised Transport Corps (MTC), a women’s voluntary organisation founded in 1939. The MTC supported the war effort in numerous ways, from driving ambulances and staff cars for foreign dignitaries to supporting the intelligence services. As well as scheduled buses, the section also operated a service of cars serving more isolated villages and hamlets.
The MTC at Bletchley Park were equipped with a ramshackle collection of second-hand saloon and estate cars. Under constant use, these aging vehicles quickly began to fall apart!
Now on display in the Block C Visitor Centre until April 2026, this transportation logbook offers a fascinating glimpse into the daily challenges faced by the drivers, and the mechanics who kept the fleet going. Stay tuned as we share a closer look at this team’s challenges, along with a few real excerpts from the logbook itself.

We’re excited to showcase our latest Object in Focus exhibit, a Drivers’ Report Book used by the Mechanised Transport Corps (MTC) to log issues and accidents on journeys to and from Bletchley Park.
Bletchley Park’s Transport Section was absolutely vital. Without it, the whole operation might have ground to a halt. Night and day, come rain or shine, drivers ensured staff, scattered across miles of billets, arrived on time for their shifts.
A quick look through the entries shows just how challenging their work could be. Problems ranged from “no horn” to “door flies open continuously” and even “steering completely independent of the driver.”
Come and explore this fascinating glimpse into the daily lives of those who quite literally kept Bletchley Park moving.

Not all of our Veterans have someone to sponsor their name on the Codebreakers’ Wall, but you can change that ⬇️
By sponsoring a brick for a Veteran, you are commemorating their wartime achievements for years to come. Your donation will help to preserve their legacy and support the restoration of Bletchley Park’s historic site.
