thinking about doing a club penguin but with carved gourds chilling in brooklyn…. i would perhaps call it “stoopville”
i see a lot of folks separating their professional and artistic software making practices, but for me i've decided they're the same thing
next thursday, we’ll be sharing a few thoughts and work from our first year of building slow, community powered software.
come listen in if you’re curious, we’d love to meet you 🍃
Our next Digital Playground with @AllTechIsHuman is gonna be a cozy one 🥰
In two weeks, @bvksn from @soft_networks will explore software as a pathway to greater care and connection.

introducing 🔮 1:1, remote protocols🫂
a new project with @aliceyuanzhang
if you're missing someone who is far away, 1:1 can help. consult our connection wizard and it will guide you to a protocol - an exercise you and a remote peer perform together.

when Alice moved away we wanted to stay in touch, but often the tools we used to connect left us feeling fatigue, distracted and numb.
so we began this project with an intimate, creative ritual – every day for two weeks we improvised a new way to connect with each other.
1:1 is published as part of The Digital Reviews Issue 02: “(digital) performance". thanks to @tdrbark and curator @lauraonsale for having us💐

what if we built software that grows like an oak tree – unfurling gently towards where it's needed the most, taking time to figure out its place on earth, made to last for 100's of years.
THING, our wip streaming platform for artists, now has a web page: thing.tube
critics say its disorderly and unstructured — which happens to be exactly how it feels to publicly, cooperatively build a decentralized network 🌪

wheeeeee, thrilled to be a @ProcessingOrg + @p5xjs fellow this year ⚘
the fellowship is supporting p5 in the park - a curriculum of plein-air coding exercises that explores how programming can be used to pay close attention to nature.
We are thrilled to announce the 2022 Processing Foundation Fellowship cohort! 🎉🥳🎉
Read more about their projects on our Medium channel. medium.com/processing-founda…

each exercise encourages learners to step away from their computer and spend time in the natural world. they then use @p5xjs to reflect on its lessons.
the curriculum is a work in progress, follow along here docs.google.com/document/d/1…
excited to begin work on “is this THING on?” 🌿
we’re building a centralized live streaming platform and slowly decentralizing it in collaboration with community.
lots more to share and opportunities for discussion to come. thanks to @GrayAreaorg & @NEWINC for the support 🙏

IS THIS THING ON?: A community-centered decentralized livestream network for Web3.
Bhavik Singh (@soft_networks), Christopher Clary (@fknjpgs), Molly Soda (@mollysoda), and Sarah Rothberg (@sarahrothberg)
loved working with @mollysoda, @ReginaHarsanyi and @FeralFile to develop webcamarchive.live – a collaborative video editor where fans can create videos together by merging 200+ clips from Molly’s enormous archive ✨
we used the interface for "Movie on 06-03-22 at 1.00 PM,” a performance during @feralfile's "On Screen Presence."
the exhibition explores uses for NFTs beyond decontextualized thumbnails towards dynamic, active relations between artist and audience.

you can watch the (near) final video that was created by Molly and the audience, and preview the experience at webcamarchive.live/preview.
if you’d like to know more about the show, @nnHirsch did a lovely review for @outland_art: outland.art/the-hirsch-truth…
