The reason millennials are so nostalgic is that they briefly experienced a world not entirely controlled by the stupidest people to have ever lived.

You cannot abuse or psychologically harm a computer program.
It does not and will never have feelings.
It does not and will not ever have desires.

This, from Anthropic's new "Usage Policy" seems insane to me. How can you be "cruel" towards a computer program? Are you "cruel" to Super Mario Bros. 3 if you make Mario die a hundred times? Have these AI weirdos convinced themselves their chatbots have feelings?

The probability that Claude is conscious is the same as the probability that Anna Karenina is conscious.
Zero.
Period.
But inviting religious scholars to a series of meetings to instil the idea that Claude might be conscious and deserve moral status is not just wrong.
If it were merely wrong, we would all be laughing at it.
The problem is that it is very dangerous.
Because granting AIs moral standing opens the door to trade-offs between human lives and AI “welfare”.
Assign each AI even a tiny moral weight and add those weights across enough copies: you can end up justifying the sacrifice of human lives for machines.
We should strongly push back against the idea that Claude might be conscious.

The flaw of this is most people just don't have interesting enough lives for an agent to engage with. They go to work. They go home. They buy a few things. They have a day on the weekend to walk around the block. They take a trip once a year
There's not much slack there. What's the agent going to do
🇺🇸 Zuckerberg says that in 5 years you will have a personal AI that knows your life and does the work for you.
"Everyone is going to have an agent that really intimately understands your goals and everything around you and can help you get stuff done."
He means one assistant on money, health, the house, the calendar, running in the background all day.
Meta wants that agent sitting inside the apps people already live in, so it becomes the way you get through a normal day.
