After nearly 3 years of hard work and focus, @moonpay was granted a BitLicense and Money Transmitter License by the New York State Department of Financial Services. This provides us with the rarified "golden stack" of licenses in the United States, where we can now directly service customers in all 50 States!
@EleanorTerrett broke the news and followed up with a great overview of what this means on @CryptoAmerica_ in a piece titled, "MoonPay Secures Coveted New York BitLicense."
In it, she wrote:
"The green light from New York’s top financial regulator marks a major milestone for the crypto payments firm, placing it among a short list of heavy-hitting BitLicense holders, including PayPal, Coinbase, Robinhood, and Circle. Widely considered the most rigorous state regulator in the U.S., New York’s licensing process is known for its high bar on compliance, cybersecurity, and financial controls. The BitLicense remains one of the toughest regulatory approvals to obtain in crypto."
For context, in both 2024 and 2023, New York State only granted two licenses; and, in 2025, MoonPay was the first license to be granted!

It has been an exciting month as we also opened MoonPay's US Headquarters in New York.
