I know a couple of teachers who have recently decided they want to come back into the classroom after a break but they don’t know where to look for jobs since TES is so quiet over the break. Do they just need to wait for September?

Disastrous collapse in education in understanding our world. Failing to provide a basis for systemic thinking. "While 56% of AS or A-level students studied a humanities subject in 2015/16, only 38% studied one in 2021/22" independent.co.uk/news/educa…

Horrific news from Gaza City. Israel continues to commit massacres with impunity. This is the third worst massacre since Israel began its genocide against Palestinians. The UK government must immediately #StopArmingIsrael and end all complicity in its violence and apartheid.
BREAKING: More than 100 Palestinians have been killed following an Israeli attack on a school in the centre of Gaza City, according to the report. 🔴 LIVE updates: aje.io/x9tkr3

Disappointing but unsurprising response from @UKLabour.
Home Secretary Yvette Cooper and Chief Whip Alan Campbell ordered Labour MPs not to go to anti-fascist demonstrations. This order was made via a virtual call on Wednesday morning at 9am.

Lots of people suddenly finding it very easy to separate the actions of a group of violent extremists from the ideology and behaviour of an entire ethnic group.

Can we please stop both siding the far right now? This is who the majority are. Time to stop platforming those that spread hate for clicks and media attention.
Enormous crowds of anti-racist demonstrators in Walthamstow.

Truly fascinating to observe the levels of hostility and disrespect Zarah Sultana encounters whenever she goes on TV to say controversial things like racism and child poverty are bad. Left wing and not one of the lads.
A reminder that Keir Starmer kicked Zarah Sultana out of the Parliamentary Labour Party because she opposes child poverty.

Whilst it’s extremely heartening to see so many people standing up against racism, I’m genuinely confused why @Keir_Starmer has not been around today. Communities have come out because the government has been missing in action. @UKLabour your silence has been very loud today.

Any group that convenes must include teachers or educational staff that are Muslim, Black, People of Colour and actually from the minority communities currently under attack.

so we've found our Bad Guy then; noone from the UK, noone in politics, noone in our media. Just a guy everyone already dislikes and who we cannot and will not actually punish.

A long thread but well worth a read.
What we are witnessing in England is a mixture of a far-right racist riot, pogrom and terrorist insurgency. It has been whipped up by our media and political elites for decades. Some of those decrying this horror played their part in making it happen.

Good point. I also know far too many schools who completely refused to talk about Palestine. This does not make schools safer. It means schools have been remiss in their safeguarding duties as they have potentially not picked up on students that picked up on far-right rhetoric.
For nine months the press has deliberately misrepresented peaceful marches for palestine as hate marches, particularly painting muslims as terrorist sympathisers. That will have also fed into what is happening now.
