so honestly I recommend you create a folder on your pc or phone and fill it with drawings from artists you admire, or art styles you like. I have one that has nearly 4k pics and you can find artwork on pinterest. pick out a few styles you like, and take 1 trait from each-

style, like rendering style, lineart, eye shape, etc. then you can combine what you like from multiple artists. in all honesty back then I used to try really hard to replicate the hgsn anime art style, and it just felt like it wasn't me. after studying a few artists-

that I liked, I finally developed something that I felt comfortable with (if you compare my old art vs new) honestly, I recommend you use real life refs for poses/anatomy, but also apply those art style traits simultaneously. I hope that this advice is helpful ❤️

also guys I think we should call him 'hikaru' when we pair him with vol 1/anime yoshiki, and natsuki when we pair him with current arc yoshiki. I'm not sure if I will tag future ship art as yoshinatsu because of spoilers tho. I might just stick to yoshikaru for that

for my au with nerdshiki I am still keeping the name ‘hikaru’. natsuki will be his real name, and ‘hikaru’ is just an alias to protect his true identity

are people seriously getting upset with others deadnaming natsuki cuz they still refer to him as 'hikaru'? this is a big change, be patient with people adjusting. girl I'm bored let's get real problems
