Important parallels with places like Memphis. Memphis’ downtown jail conditions were found unconstitutional in 1976 and 1989. But these court decisions were repeatedly used to “modernize” jail facilities, contributing to an “endless cycle of jail reform and expansion.”

I wrote about the interplay between federal jail investigations and jail resistance for @MLK50Memphis back in August, if you wanna know more. Solidarity with the folks fighting to decarcerate Atlanta—as always. mlk50.com/2024/08/22/how-bla…

Biden administration had four years to upgrade indoor air quality, educate the public about CO2 levels, standardize HEPA filtration, normalize wearing masks.
Instead they normalized COVID, allowed h5n1 to spread , and now they hand a loaded gun back to Trump

Dissent is a fundamental part of democracy. Emboldened by the possibility of an unchallenged campaign of retaliation and persecution, Republicans are bringing H.R. 9495 to the floor AGAIN to give Trump the power to brand any organization that opposes him or his administration as a "terrorist." I voted no once, and I will be voting NO again!
Because Trump needed more ways to punish his enemies.

A lot of orgs put out statements but I looked at United Farm Workers, a union of immigrant workers.
They didn’t make a statement. They just showed workers coming to work every single day. You can donate here: ufw.org/sparechange
Linda is picking chiles in Gilroy CA, even though she lives 90 minutes away in Madera CA. She works piece rate so has to work quickly to cover her gas, bills and other expenses. She worries that she is constantly changing jobs as most farm work is temprorary. #WeFeedYou

Let’s just say that you’re correct and mass deportation “frees up” homes to ease demand.
Who do you think is going to jump in & buy those homes? Americans with a 7% interest rate in a tanking economy OR corporations/hedge funds/REITs?
You can’t fix this level of stupidity.

The funny thing about this and some of the folks in the comments is that yall are equating sadness as weakness and the "strength of the ancestors" as if they didnt grieve or were sad in hard times. "Walking around your offices all sad" which means folks got up and went to work despite how they felt like we have always done. We see our personal and civil rights being possibly stripped away that our "ancestors" fought for. Women are losing body autonomy but you know....get back to work.

Octavia Butler’s novel PARABLE OF THE SOWER was published in 1993. The President whose win led to so much…destruction was named “Christopher Donner” (yes, DONNER) and his slogan was “Make America Great Again”. This novel need to stay a cautionary tale.
