Yes, at terminal velocity impact, airframes compact. The fuselage narrows, crushes, shortens along its longitudinal axis. The cabin structure collapses inward. This is real. This is basic conservation of momentum the aircraft decelerates from 500 mph to zero in milliseconds and the structure absorbs that energy through plastic deformation. The nose crumples. The pressure bulkhead buckles. The seat rails bend.
But "compacts" does not mean "disappears into a singularity." As if the plane never existed in the 1st place.
So when someone says "it all compacts," the correct response is: some of it compacts. The aluminum skin compacts. The cabin airframe compacts. The windows shatter. The seats crumple. The luggage deforms. None of that is in dispute.
What does not compact, what does not vanish, what does not burn, what does not dissolve is the Inconel turbine disk, the steel landing gear struts, the titanium flap tracks, the steel push-pull rods, and the crash-proof black boxes. These are materials selected specifically because they don't do the thing the claimant is saying happened.
A compacted debris field is still a debris field. It is metal on the ground. It is chunks. It is torn, twisted, blackened, heat-scorched metal that a trained NTSB investigator can walk through and say "this is a compressor section, this is a main gear, this is the aft pressure bulkhead." They do it at every high-speed crash. They did it at ValuJet 592 which hit the Everglades swamp at 500+ mph in a near-vertical dive and still produced engine components, landing gear fragments, and identifiable structural pieces.
The "it all compacts" claim requires you to believe that every high-density alloy component in the aircraft simultaneously did something it has never done in any documented crash in aviation history ceased to exist as physical matter.

The lack of widespread surface debris from the catastrophic Learjet 60 crash in Greenacres, Florida has sparked a lot of questions online, but it is actually a known physical result of an extreme, high-velocity vertical impact.
Flight data reveals the private jet entered a near-vertical dive, descending at a violent rate exceeding 30,000 feet per minute before striking the ground near Military Trail.
When a multi-ton aircraft impacts the earth at that speed and angle, the physics change completely from a typical crash landing.
First, there is the "crater effect." At hundreds of miles per hour, the massive kinetic energy forces the aircraft to accordion into itself and bury itself deep into the ground.
Rather than sliding or breaking apart across a wide field—which spreads visible surface debris—the fuselage, cockpit, and heavy engines are swallowed directly into a concentrated impact crater.
Second, the impact instantly ruptures the fuel tanks, unleashing an intense, explosive fireball. The extreme heat and pressure can quickly consume lighter materials like aluminum paneling, fiberglass, and interior cabin components, leaving very little recognizable wreckage behind on the surface.
Witnesses described the event as sounding and looking like a missile strike.
Aviation investigators like the NTSB frequently see this in high-speed nose-dives: the debris field isn't missing, it is simply buried deep underground or vaporized in the initial blast.
