I'm an American Army veteran, anthropologist, and volunteer living in Lviv, Ukraine.
I cover Ukrainian history, Russian aggression, disinformation, geopolitics, and the political bullshit that comes with it.
I'm blunt, sarcastic, politically independent, and I don't give a damn about offending MAGA, Kremlin apologists, or anyone else who confuses propaganda with facts.
I believe in evidence, critical thinking, and calling bullshit wherever I see it.
Expect history, analysis, dark humor, strong language, and opinions that won't always make you comfortable.
I don't care which political tribe you belong to. If your argument is bullshit, I'll tell you.
Welcome to AnthroVet50.

Putin has already sabotaged any future peace talks by demanding NATO pull back to 1997 borders.
This includes these countries
1999: Czech Republic (Czechia), Hungary, Poland
2004: Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia
2009: Albania, Croatia
2017: Montenegro
2020: North Macedonia
2023: Finland
2024: Sweden
Musk admits SpaceX restricted Starlink access in Ukraine. The Pentagon had contracted for Starlink services and expanded military Starshield access to 3,000 terminals. Ukraine’s military use was no surprise.
Reuters reports that Ukraine’s Starshield service does not operate over Russian territory. Claims about “hacked terminals” do not establish that this geographic restriction was bypassed.
Musk attributes Starshield restrictions to the U.S. government. His admission about Starlink therefore doesn’t settle responsibility for both services.
What contractual authority permitted the restrictions, and who authorized the disruption of Pentagon-funded military capabilities?
American Exceptionalism is a brainwashed mythology.
When you have MAGA openly celebrating and justifying the death of a 1 year old child, you know they are the filth of the earth.

These are the types of absolute uninformed shitheads on this platform. Guess what twinkle toes, Russia has been bombing Ukraine since 2022. Ukraine didn't have the capability to strike inside Russia until 2025.
Ukraine has offered peace for over a year, Russia is the one that keeps saying no and listing unacceptable demands.
I've come to believe that one of the greatest myths Americans are taught from childhood is American exceptionalism.
We're told America is the greatest, freest, and most prosperous country on Earth. The shining example the rest of the world supposedly envies.
Let's look at some facts.
According to the FBI, America's murder rate fell to 4.1 per 100,000 people in 2025. That's a significant improvement, yet still roughly 4.7 times the EU's 2024 homicide rate.
The United States incarcerates people at several times the rate of most Western European countries. School shootings remain a recurring national tragedy.
Meanwhile, millions of Europeans enjoy affordable healthcare, accessible higher education, stronger worker protections, paid leave, and comprehensive privacy protections.
And despite decades of immigration, including from the Middle East, Europe's homicide rates remain dramatically lower than America's.
Yet Americans are constantly told nobody enjoys greater freedom or opportunity.
And that brings me to MAGA.
I see a movement increasingly defined by ultranationalist rhetoric, with deeply concerning influences from white nationalism and Christian nationalism.
A movement where questioning the national mythology is treated as betrayal.
The responses to my posts have been revealing.
MAGA accounts repeatedly accuse me of being a bot, despite the fact that my X account is publicly ID-verified.
Others call me a traitor.
A traitor to what, exactly?
I'm a U.S. Army veteran who served his country. I live abroad, exercise my constitutional right to free speech, and advocate for Americans to enjoy better healthcare, education, public safety, and individual freedoms.
Which part of that constitutes treason?
Meanwhile, their president has reopened Russian diesel imports, with the first shipment reportedly heading toward New York.
His administration's negotiations with Moscow have also included a proposed multibillion-dollar acquisition of Russian-owned Lukoil assets involving investors with business connections to his family and senior negotiators.
Where's the outrage over those dealings with Russia?
I'm not negotiating business arrangements with Moscow. I'm not facilitating Russian energy purchases. I'm not participating in proposed transactions involving Russian oil assets.
I'm an American living in Europe who wants better living conditions for his fellow Americans.
And somehow, I'm the traitor?
Here's what I've learned.
Patriotism isn't blind allegiance to a politician, a political movement, or a national mythology.
It's having the courage to recognize your country's shortcomings and demand better.
America has accomplished extraordinary things. But believing that makes it inherently superior to every other nation isn't patriotism. It's exceptionalism turned into dogma.
You cannot improve a country when you've been conditioned to believe it has already achieved perfection.
And criticizing America because you want it to improve doesn't make you a traitor.
It makes you an American exercising the very freedoms you were taught to cherish.
I'd like to thank everyone for their overwhelming support. We had a few trolls, mostly uneducated MAGA trolls, but they're making up for the lack of their Russian friends being here.
I love the US, but it's not perfect, never has been. No country on this planet is perfect.
MAGA hates everything, even the fact that I live in Europe.
And apparently, that really pisses some people off.
Especially when they find out I still get to vote in U.S. elections.
“You left. Stay out of our politics.”
Funny. Washington certainly doesn’t stay out of my finances.
I can live in Europe, earn my money in Europe, and pay taxes in Europe—and still have to file a U.S. tax return reporting my worldwide income.
Even when the final amount I owe the United States is ZERO.
Read that again.
Zero tax owed. Still paperwork. Still calculations. Still deadlines. Still figuring out which forms establish that I don’t owe them anything.
Foreign tax credits. Income exclusions. Currency conversions.
Then come the bank-account reports.
That ordinary account I use to pay rent and buy groceries? Washington calls it a “foreign financial account.”
It’s down the street. I live here.
If my reportable foreign accounts exceed $10,000 combined at any point during the year, that generally means a separate Treasury filing. Depending on my assets, another disclosure may go on my tax return too.
One doesn’t replace the other. Naturally.
So I can pay my taxes where I live, owe Washington nothing, and still spend hours—or pay a specialist—to navigate the paperwork proving it.
What exactly are we accomplishing here?
I’m buying groceries and paying bills, not running an offshore empire.
And then someone has the nerve to tell me living abroad means I should lose my say in how America is governed.
You want me to report my worldwide income, keep track of my accounts, and meet America’s filing requirements—but shut up when election day comes?
Absolutely fucking not.
I served my country. I’m still a citizen. I still care what happens to it.
And yes, I still vote.
You don’t have to like my address—or my ballot.
The amount of MAGA cope today has been outstanding. It must be miserable knowing they're going to lose the midterms.
Many Americans struggle to understand European speech laws because they don't understand European history.
Europe isn't one country. It's dozens of nations, hundreds of languages, and countless ethnic communities, with centuries of religious, ethnic, and national conflict.
Europe has witnessed what happens when organized hatred, dehumanization, and extremist propaganda become instruments of political power.
We've seen the wars, ethnic cleansing, genocide, and millions of deaths.
Europe's approach to free expression didn't emerge from some irrational hatred of liberty. It was shaped by the catastrophic consequences of allowing hatred to become a political weapon.
Freedom of expression is a fundamental European right. But it comes with responsibilities, including respect for the rights of others.
You can criticize governments, challenge institutions, and express unpopular opinions.
What you cannot automatically claim is an unlimited right to incite hatred or violence against entire communities.
There's a historical reason for that distinction.
Europe has already paid an unimaginably high price for learning it.
This is the work of your "great humanitarians" of Russia @realDonaldTrump @WhiteHouse.
A Ukrainian POW recently returned by your friend had the word "Jew" carved into his back.
These are the signs of torture and abuse we see on nearly all Ukrainian POWs returned by Russia.
I'm an American, a U.S. Army veteran, and I live in Europe.
And I'll tell you something that might upset a few people back home.
I want my fellow Americans to enjoy the same rights, freedoms, and quality of life that millions of Europeans already enjoy.
I want Americans to have access to affordable healthcare without worrying about going bankrupt because they got sick.
I want American students to pursue higher education without burying themselves in decades of debt.
I want Americans to enjoy stronger digital privacy laws, meaningful consumer protections, paid parental leave, and guaranteed paid vacation.
I want police officers held to rigorous standards of accountability, where de-escalation is emphasized and deadly force is genuinely a last resort.
I want Americans to understand that freedom isn't just about what the government cannot do to you. It's also about having the security and opportunity to actually enjoy your life.
And before someone starts screaming about socialism, understand something.
European countries are capitalist democracies. They have private businesses, entrepreneurs, private property, competitive markets, and individual liberties. They've simply made different decisions about what protections their citizens should enjoy.
Europe isn't perfect. No place is. But pretending America has nothing to learn from other democracies is ridiculous.
I served my country. I love my country. And I don't believe patriotism requires pretending that America is the best at everything.
In fact, I believe the exact opposite.
Real patriotism means wanting your country to improve, even when that means admitting another country does something better.
I don't want Americans to have fewer freedoms.
I want them to have MORE.
More protections. More opportunities. More security. More accountability. More freedom to live their lives without being financially destroyed by illness, education, or circumstances beyond their control.
And having lived on both sides of the Atlantic, I know that much of this is possible.
We should stop asking why Americans can't have these things and start asking why they're expected to settle for less.
Trump continues to break federal law by inquiring whether career diplomats in the State Department voted for him in 2016, 2020, and 2024.
Russia is “winning” so hard it reportedly suffered over 50,000 casualties in September alone—and still hasn’t captured the whole Donbas. Sloviansk and Kramatorsk remain Ukrainian nearly five years into the invasion.
That’s why I think Putin is banking on his asset Trump to pressure Ukraine into surrendering territory Russia still can’t conquer.
Otherwise, he faces sacrificing yet another generation of Russian men trying to take it.
That isn’t victory. It’s a fucking catastrophe.
