Imagine this happens to you and you fumble the landing anyways
The Roadster could genuinely be a lifesaver in situations like these.

Still investing in quantum computing? Cause in 2026 that’s marginal right
Breaking News: Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s administration is making a $30 million investment to build a quantum research lab at New York University. In exchange, the city will receive 15% of any proceeds from intellectual property developed in that lab. nyti.ms/4jUe7GD

during hard takeoff will the AI be kind enough to release model cards? Will they assign names to new models that confer sufficient aura? when capabilities leap every second will we still get to look at their pelicans on a bicycle

Are any of these real movies
In 2022, Jessica Chastain won the Oscar for Best Actress at the 94th Academy Awards. Which of the other nominees would you have picked instead?

Unnerving that anesthesia could just be a form of “severance”, creating experiences that are to some extent real but inaccessible without memories formed

Also noteworthy that integer multiplication is itself fairly ugly to begin with. Not an appealing algorithmic problem to study
human: "god, why did you do that to integer multiplication?" god: "do what?" human: "nlogn. didn't you craft math to be elegant? beautiful?" god: 'the fuck's a log?"

OpenAI math dump is both a) historically significant and impressive and b) imo not a strong reason to update priors on general capabilities
Replying to @_NathanCalvin
it’s really not as easy to train models to do AI R&D as it is to do math

Pure math is just very different from any other thing we can point the models at, a perfect playground for chain of thought to roam free. Unfortunately thinking deeply about anything at all applied doesn’t have the same returns (for now)

Is there any faction here that would actually oppose removing ebikes from the park? The anger against “peloton cyclists” likely overflows from the more reckless eCitibikers and delivery bikes. Just need some better bike connections on the perimeter and transverses

Why does iOS video playback flip back to vertical when you turn on Orientation Lock. Hostile design for watching videos while lying on your bed

Middle school English has instilled in people the need to reduce all media to single-sentence thematic takeaways (which are often misreadings as here)
OBAA: America fucking sucks but the kids will be alright and they'll be our hope. Digger: The West fucking sucks and they will bring us to mass destruction and there's nothing we can do but to create art to escape the cruel reality that we live in.

> even very smart people > “only billionaires are responsible” unfortunately not compatible
was just arguing with a friend who said the movie didn’t work because “only billionaires are responsible” lol. this def went over even very smart people’s heads, no wonder the average american will never see it

we’ve gotta wait a few years into the singularity to match the ambition of Khan Academy
I gave Claude fable 5.5 one prompt: a video of all human progress, then 30 years into the future. It came back with a 3-minute animated film and an original score. No footage, no stock music.

Not a fan of downplaying of the value of simply prepackaged info. Most people if asked to create an Italian sandwich would not build it this way or derive from first principles. It's nice to have someone showcase a good sandwich that you can copy!
People are calling sandwiches the viral Tik tok Trader Joe’s Italian sandwich

Genuinely so funny that the result of a “code anything instantly” oracle is plausibly a 20% productivity increase at the moment
A $500k engineer costs $2,000 per working day. If $200/day of LLM tokens makes them 20% more productive (which is absolutely true today), that’s one of the easiest ROI in the company. The expensive thing isn’t tokens. It’s underutilized engineers.

Productivity of course measured not in LOC but measurable value generated
