I think many of us working in tech tend to forget that the reason software engineering vs other engineering fields pays (a lot!) more, is a lot more flexible (WFH/remote), and has better perks:
Because this field changes much faster than other engineering fields. The premium is because fewer people are able/willing to pick up new technologies, methodologies so quickly.
But the field had ~10-20 years of stability, and so lots of folks forgot this is why a premium exists. And that AI is just another tech wave: software engineers who pick it up and master it will generally fare better; those not will struggle a lot more.

People are trusting personal agents to move money between accounts? 👀😬
Duet's hardest job is deciding when to interrupt you, (like all proactive agents) and Anthropic says it's still tuning that.
Its own FAQ warns it can misread a thread, misjudge what's urgent, or miss something that lands between check-ins.
Before you join the waitlist: the background check-ins count against your Pro or Max limits. It asks before it sends, pays, signs or deletes, and some actions stay off-limits even with your approval, like moving money between accounts.

I'm a few hundred puzzles into Order of the Sinking Star, and it is, indeed, fantastic. Yes, it's a box pushing game, but it plans to be the LAST box pushing game. No meat will be left on the bones.
The puzzles are really well put together. Compact. No extra elements. You are given a seemingly impossible situation and you have to explore the capabilities of the few parts you are given and figure out a new way to use them. Really ingenious stuff in here.
Highly recommended. I've already gotten well over the $30 worth, and I have a LONG way to go.

Fantasy computer security problems: "Maybe by sending packets and detecting the timing of the vibrations of the computer case, it is possible for an attacker to gain information about the private key."
Real computer security problems: "The private key was 4. Not 4 digits. 4."

I'm starting to see any user interface for data entry as obsolete. And any missing visualization of the data entered/available/stored as a missing feature.
Is there a real designer out there who spent valuable time figuring out what a service or app should be?
I haven't seen or read anything valuable yet.
Context: agents (personal or not)

Wow, can't believe I'm seeing a Simpsons paradox in the wild! Having a blessed day
I hate it when my code gets raptured
It is becoming f*cking dangerous
A 23-year-old dev from China just ran 300 Claude Code agents in parallel and hooked them to a verification layer so none of them could bullshit him
He opens the live dashboard:
- 300 agents writing and checking at the same time
- Every output verified against the source in ~100 ms
- Three passes over 100 company profiles → zero errors left
- Everything dumped straight into an Obsidian vault
The trick is the split: one model does the work, a cheaper one decides if the claim is actually true. The loop doesn’t stop until everything checks out
An analyst team would bill weeks for this. He got it in one run
Same kind of Second Brain + swarm setup that keeps circulating. Bookmark the full breakdown

A middleware engineer in South Korea wrote to me, seeking help on what to do now that their manager is "blinded by GenAI hype" and set an "AI token usage" KPI. This eng is using v little AI, so manager is poking them to use more.
My response: your manager is trying to help you

Freemium games that enable ad watches or ~unlimited spending should be Considered Harmful.
The behavior here is still unusually vile, and sufficiently blatant that I ~knew from watching on subway rides that the supposedly random pieces aren't random. But this? My lord.
