#hignfy Female host, one female guest. So that’s 40% female. But the population’s 50% female.
So another opportunity missed. What happens if you have 3 woman on the show do they reach critical mass?
The WORLD needs school like Hogwarts because, in that world, magic wielding individuals are so numerous. It isn’t the only school by far.
Most fantasy worlds have less ubiquitous wizards and individual training is appropriate.
4 men 1 woman.
it’s 2025.
The brand new series kicks off tonight, hosted by @XanderArmstrong with @StephLunch & @PhilNWang at 9pm on @BBCOne & @BBCiPlayer
100% agree. It’s a game called “d20” with the #DnD brand grafted on.
Too many bells and whistles. Less would be more. xitter.cf/joker_szx/status/19013…
In America they have this pioneer spirit you have to be blessed to do everything yourself lie they tell themselves.
I’ve taught these classes. I used to teach students to wire plugs. A completely unnecessary skill these days. Basic First Aid/Cooking/Finance may be useful.
You are “The Big Bang Theory”
As apparently I'm not supposed to as a functioning adult -
Yes - I build legos, have 3d printers (plural), play video games, rpgs, board games, and read non-self help books.
I guess I'm undatable according to many posts running around at the moment.
I also have a PhD in Physics, my own thriving company, 10+ years in Predictive Analytics (a portion of the A.I. world that isn't LLMs or image generations but really important to you and you may not realize it), multiple peer reviewed papers in respected academic journals including the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 23 issued US patents, and 7 books I have written.
Damn, guess I have to up my "adulting" game.
Fight a bit. Magic a bit. Healing. Knowledge. But most of all a brilliant Role-playing opportunity. Apart from representing their God - and presumably some sort of morality- within the party, they also have strong interactions with NPC communities.
My preferred class to play.
Clerics were one of Gygax's & D&D's great contributions to video gaming. The Cleric class puzzled me right from the start - I couldn't think of a single famous sword & sorcery tale that featured a cleric as anything other than a bad guy. And he really didn't seem necessary. It's not like his puny healing abilities were that great. It just meant you had to return back from the dungeon one fight earlier. Turn Undead was handy, but if Gygax had made undead more rare or less nasty they wouldn't have been as terrifying. And in any case, when the Turn Undead failed, BECAUSE undead were awful you got wiped.
In the end I accepted the Cleric because (A) it gave Wisdom something to do (B) it meant we had 3 character classes instead of just two (C) it was unique to humans at the time. And (D) resurrection was fabulous. Remember this was before
thieves druids & paladins even.
Over time the cleric evolved into a solid interesting class. But still, the healing ability of clerics was (and I assume still is) limited. Once MMOs appeared, the "healer" became a fundamental necessary class, because boss monsters in MMOs could really dish it out and constant healing was the only way to stay in the fight. It turned into a neat combination where the tank would hold off and focus attention on himself, the damage-per-second guy would fireball the hell out of the boss, and the healer would keep the others alive. If the monster decided to attack the healer, everyone had to INSTANTLY change tactics. For most of my time in WoW I was a healer, because it meant I was really useful in the party and could always find groups to play with.
But it all started with Gygax making Clerics a thing. Thank you, sir.
