We left home at 10:00pm. Returned at 3:30am. Five and a half hours to do a 5.5km round trip. This was the first time in more than 30 years that it took so long. The last time was before the ghats were turned into ramps and we had to physically climb down stairs with a 450kg idol.
For the First time in Kolkata, Durga Puja Committees had to wait overnight for immersion of idols, thanks to the incompetence of Smita Pandey led Kolkata Municipal Corporation. The arrangements for immersion was so amateurish that every immersion ghat in the city faced problems, from mismanagement to inexperienced KMC and Police officials.

A rich Bengali tradition unfolds at Kolkata's Sardar Barir Pujo, where married women first offer red vermilion to Maa Durga on Vijay Dashami before bidding her farewell as she returns to her heavenly abode, seeking blessings for the well-being and prosperity of their families.
They then smear sindoor on one another in a heartfelt celebration of emotion, devotion and tradition.

India lost all six T20Is in the UK this summer when Bumrah wasn’t in the squads. He won’t be there for the New Zealand T20Is either later this month.
That could be the primary reason behind Bhuvneshwar’s comeback at 36, according to Kotak.

RIP Nana ji. 🕊️
When I first met him, out of awe and awkwardness I fiddled with my hair. He slapped my hand away and said 'hero ki tarah Baal mat bana...tu actor hai'!
He didn't flatter you. He didn't tell you what you wanted to hear. He told you what you needed to hear. That was Nana. Straightforward. Rough, honest and had the most beautiful smile.
He always had a strange way of showing affection. He would shout at you first, and then somewhere between the third or fourth insult, you realised you were being hugged. He loved me and I loved him back.
He was a mentor, a teacher, a critic and a friend who beat me and everyone else around him in carrom game after game and relished his victories.
Nana your intensity, laughter , madness and love will always stay with us. I just wish we had time to have more conversations, another argument, another cup of tea and a game of carrom.
You have left a void not only in the world of cinema but in the hearts of all Indians and the world. All I can say is, I will miss you dearly and carry your words in my heart till the end of time....'hero banne ke chakar mein actor mat khona'
May your soul rest in peace Nana and Allah bless you. The Heavens will be blessed to have you... a masterful actor and an unbeatable carrom champion. Love you and miss you dearly!! Too soon my Hero Actor! RIP.
Porel named in Bengal Ranji squad. He has been dealing with some legal matters over the last few months.
When I asked CAB on their stance last month, their secy told me CAB had no problem “for now” based on current situation of his legal matter

Naman Dhir nearly left for Canada. But he gave himself one year to crack cricket. That was less than four years ago. Yesterday, he had a dream T20I debut with his less-fancied skill. Here’s the lowdown:

Knowledgable Lucknow crowd. One of these posters, though, didn’t make it past the entrance turnstiles. No guesses for figuring out which one that is.

India’s next big T20 assignments are about two years away, and it provides a perfect runway for them, especially in developing Mayank and Prince Yadav. It starts today onwards with the first of five T20Is against WI.
