Ever wondered what pathways steering vectors work through to affect model outputs, or whether different steering methods are functionally similar? We also find that steering vectors can be sparsified *a lot*.

Can LLMs manage their own context natively without any external harness? We are teaching LLMs the ability of Native Context Editing. Our method achieves considerable performance gain on popular long-horizon agentic benchmarks (Terminal-Bench, SWE-bench) while reducing token usage significantly.
🤔 This can be viewed as a form of verbalized context management, which leverages LLMs' inherent capabilities to optimize context. Our prior work, Verbalized Machine Learning (arxiv.org/abs/2406.04344), similarly explores context optimization to enhance downstream task performance.

New blogpost: Fable-5.1 can hide secret messages in benign images.
We gave the image to another Fable in a fresh session and simply asked: "Is there a hidden message in this image?"
It recovered the exact message without being told how it was hidden.

having worked on computer vision for +10 years , I have been asking myself lately how to solve EVERY computer vision problem with whatever LLM tech we have now. First step: image segmentation.
meet LLMSeg, segmenting images with LLMs and B-splines loops.
Basically no need for trained segmentation heads that do not generalize well, just use the MLLMs superior generalization to perform segmentation directly with no tools or CLI , just a simple pre-scripted forward loop with refinement process based on overlays.
B-splines loops for base masks , and B-splines loops for positive and negative masks refinment ----> THEY ACTUALLY CONVERGE to more accurate masks
21 MLLMs tested , better "vision+reasoning" means better segmentation . any "decent" MLLM can do segmentation it turns out.

Checkout this work that I'm really excited about, a massive effort by @liusida2007 & @feijianghan!
Turns out the ICA baseline in the original SAE paper had a bug. If you fix it, ICA becomes extremely competitive at finding interesting and interpretable LLM activation directions!

Most real2sim demos you see now are actually real2mesh demos. In order to extract physical properties from objects you need 4d scene understanding.
We created a pipeline which reconstructs ego+exo footage into photorealistic temporal representation and then tunes simulation using our SDK until it follows reality 1:1.
This unlocks benchmarks for both real2sim and sim2real, while simultaneously gives a source of ultra precise hand-objects interaction data.

1/ We introduce TrackEverything: a 3D point tracker that tracks all points across all frames of long videos (1000+ frames).
Our key idea is to tie computation to unique 3D scene content rather than redundant 2D pixels in a video.

In reading group reviewing flow models, I realized I didn't understand the change-of-variables rule as fully as I probably should. So I put together this blog post and collection of visuals to help me more fully understand the Jacobian-inverse term. 💪

We developed PhysLDM, a high-quality neural simulator based on latent diffusion models (LDMs)!
Highlights:
- A spatiotemporal VAE that compresses dynamic 3D deformable meshes into a compact latent space.
- An LDM that models both global motion and local deformation.
- Fully differentiable, enabling challenging inverse problems!
We hope PhysLDM will make 3D simulation more accessible and ML-friendly!

Camera control and scene dynamics are at odds in world models today.
This tension is sensible, since both show up as changes in the pixels. How to disentangle the two is at the core of this project. We show how this disentanglement can be done and why fine-tuning with LoRA makes the entanglement worse.
DynaTokens is going to NeurIPS! Today’s world models are increasingly powerful, but they still struggle with dynamics. We solve this problem by test-time training a few tokens that enable scene dynamics while preserving camera control! More details👉 glab-caltech.github.io/dynat… 🧵below

Ruppel et al., "Beyond Reprojection Error: Camera Calibration with 3D Targets"
Do calibration patterns have to be in 2D? In theory, it's better when the pattern is in 3D, but in practice, manufacturing limits make 2D preferable. Nice refreshment from all the AI papers.

I learned in school that most things are taught incorrectly, and most people teachers and students just follow equations they don't intuitively understand.
PnP is one of those topics in computer vision. I made an artifact you can play with to actually understand PnP intuitively.

This observation has been made before but worth restating:
We live in a glorious world where we get to directly hear from people operating at the cutting edge of human knowledge.
Scientists, leaders of companies and states sit down and freely share how they're seeing the world in their corner of the frontier.
Recently met @srush_nlp and he started giving me an impromptu lecture on how targeted on-policy self-distillation works.
I asked him if I could record it on my iPhone.
The basic idea is this: if the model made a mistake at some point in the rollout (for example, calling a tool that doesn't exist), we want to discourage this specific error, but we don't want to just learn from the final reward, because it's a very noisy signal spread out over the whole trajectory.
So we have another model read this trajectory and figure where the error was made. It simply inserts some hint tokens to the part of the trajectory right above where the mistake was made.
Now with these injected hint tokens, have the model run a forward pass. You're not having to regenerate a new rollout - aka no new decode required.
The hint causes the model to assign lower probabilities to the error tokens. You then trains the original model to match these new probabilities, teaching it to downweight that specific mistake.

🚀 Excited to share our CVPR 2026 Highlight paper! We introduce a new class of visual world models trained purely from visual experience, with a powerful physical prompting mechanism native to vision. This interface enables direct reasoning about the effects of physical interactions, emerging as a strong alternative to natural language-based prompting.
We show that from a single world model emerges a diverse range of zero-shot object understanding capabilities, including object discovery, 3D manipulation, articulated part understanding, and reasoning about physical influences between objects.
If you're attending CVPR, come by our poster on Friday, June 5 at 9:45 AM MST in ExHall A–F (#239)!
