Reinsurance is a perfect example of compounding advantages.
Long-term treaties create high switching costs. Decades of claims data create real data effects. Scale helps with diversification and capacity.
But what actually makes it stick is the relationships and underwriting knowhow. That’s hard to copy fast, even if you have the capital.
Moats! Does anyone have one anymore?
Yes. Yes, they do.
But only a small subset of what people call moats create real long-term value and defensibility.
Not actually a moat:
1. Distribution: This does matter more than ever. Building products has gotten easier, but getting them to customers has not. Distribution, however, does not create durable defensibility. It helps create the raw ingredients for one, but it is not itself a moat.
2. Execution: Yes, speed is critical for startups. But a company that has to sprint forever is not a good business. Ultimately, it will misstep, slow down, and competition will catch up. Speed gives a company more shots on goal as it tries to build a great product and a great business, but it must eventually find something more durable.
3. Brand: The idea is that when everyone is building the same thing, the most resonant brand will win. But for startups, brand works more like customer acquisition spend: Put money in, get growth out. It’s not something that will effectively keep others from competing long-term. Brand can become a true moat over time (as with Coke or Nike or Apple), but it just takes too long to really matter for most startups.
What you're looking for is compounding advantages: a self-reinforcing flywheel that gets stronger and stronger over time, ultimately making a company very hard to compete with long-term.
There are only four compounding advantages that really matter. Every major tech company has at least one:
1. Switching costs: The more deeply embedded a product is in the way a customer works, the harder it is for that customer to switch. This increases retention and revenue per customer, which can be reinvested into the product.
2. Network effects: The more users a product has, the better it gets for everyone. This increases engagement and attracts more users.
3. Scale economies: The more volume a company has, the larger and more efficient its operations can be. This lowers unit costs, funding lower prices or a better product at the same price, further driving up volume.
4. Data effects: The more usage a product has, the more data it generates. This data can be used to improve the product and increase usage.
If you can’t see the potential for any in the startup you’re considering joining, that’s a red flag.
In today’s incredible post, @danhockenmaier shares a simple framework you can run in about an hour after getting an offer:
1. Identify a startup’s compounding advantage
2. Gauge how strong it could get
3. Measure whether it’s working

PT looping is now much simpler.
No need to use Contango or Euler Multiply, and no need to leave the Pendle app.
One of the top PT looping opportunities right now is PT ethereum:0x5086bf358635b81d8c47c66d1c8b9e567db70c72 @re
You can earn up to 28% APY in this economy.
Meanwhile, $RE is still sitting at a $450M FDV with $570M in TVL.

I've read 20+ breakdowns of the new X algorithm, so you don't have to.
Here’s a data-backed playbook for viral posts ↓
1. Phoenix
Phoenix is a fully AI-driven system (Grok-based) for evaluating X posts. Every post gets one numeric score that decides reach. There are no manual boosts, no trends, no Nikita juggling with your reach.
The score is final.
2. Account-based score (before the post)
- Verified: +100
- Unverified: up to ~+55
The score can be modified by:
- Bad Follower/following ratio
- Your restriction status (massive penalty)
3. What moves the score
Replies are becoming the most essential booster.
- Author-engaged reply: +75
- Reply: +13.5
- Profile click: +12
- Repost: +1
- Like: +0.5
- Video completion (50%): ~+0.005 (almost irrelevant)
Negative feedback essentially kills posts:
- Report: −369 (often instant death)
- Mutes/blocks/“Not interested”: heavy penalties
4. The fate of the post is decided in the first 30 minutes
0-5 min: Shown to ~5–10% of followers + tiny OON test
5-15 min: If velocity is strong, expands to ~20–30% of followers + higher OON
15-30 min: Pushed to For You if still accelerating
If velocity stopped, you're cooked. Old posts don't get revived.
5. What to do (actually works)
DO
- Optimize for replies, not likes
- Reply to comments early (first 10–15 min)
- Post when followers are active
- Write discussion-inviting content (questions, takes, frameworks)
- Use clear keywords & topics
- Space out posts
DON’T
- Chase likes
- Overpost or spam
- Post report-bait or controversial fluff
- Ignore early replies
- Rely on video for growth
- Expect dead posts to revive
6. Bottom line
Your account quality sets the ceiling even before the post is live.
Replies > likes.
Early reply velocity and activity in the first 30 minutes decide everything.
One bad signal can kill the distribution instantly.
So, continue posting stupid engagement bait questions and hope for success. The algorithm sucks.
We have open-sourced our new 𝕏 algorithm, powered by the same transformer architecture as xAI's Grok model.

How is Re Protocol tokenizing cash flows from the trillion-dollar reinsurance market?
@re Protocol brings returns from the trillion-dollar reinsurance market into DeFi through a two-token structure catering to different risk appetites, while ensuring transparency via oracles
▸ reUSD: Dual-Source Yield Floor, principal-protected
▸ reUSDe: Insurance Investment for surplus profit sharing
---
① Yield Source
▸ Returns come from real reinsurance activity through the Insurance Capital Layer (ICL)
▸ Stablecoin capital is deposited into the ICL, then deployed via a Surplus Note and 114 Trust Account
Two main yield paths depending on the token type:
A) reUSD - Dual-Source Yield Floor Idle capital strategy based on risk-free paths like Short-term T-bills or the @ethena delta-neutral path
╰┈➤ This mechanism provides a yield floor, aiming to protect principal
B) reUSDe - Insurance Alpha Capital is allocated to low-volatility reinsurance strategies
╰┈➤ Returns are generated from the underwriting profits of the reinsurance portfolio
---
② Yield Distribution
▸ Capital Waterfall Model: Profits after paying Claims and Underwriting Ops Fees are distributed
▸ Distribution Order: reUSD Accrual → reUSDe Surplus Share → Protocol Treasury
▸ Yield Accumulation: Yield is automatically compounded (Yield Auto Compound) via price or NAV, not token emissions
╰┈➤ $reUSD compounds via price/NAV, $reUSDe compounds via tNAV
---
③ Re's Security & Transparency Structure
▸ On-chain Custody & Transparency: Fireblocks Multisig custody. @chainlink Oracles provide PoR, Price feeds NAV, and Trust balances
▸ Legal Framework: Uses Surplus Note and §114 Trust Account as legal rails
▸ Capital Structure: Risk separation with principal-protected reUSD, and first-loss reUSDe
╰┈➤ Re uses a multi-layered structure to ensure security and transparency
---
④ Ecosystem & Integrations
▸ DeFi Integration: Re Protocol integrates with protocols like @pendle_fi, @Morpho, @CurveFinance, and @ConvexFinance, allowing the use of $reUSD and $reUSDe in various DeFi strategies
▸ Insurance Strategy: Capital is diversely allocated to sectors such as Workers' Compensation, Small Business Commercial, Homeowners Insurance, and Auto Insurance
---
➥ Re Protocol is clear proof of RWA's potential to bring real value to DeFi with tokens having NAV, oracle reporting, and clear withdrawal rules while retaining DeFi composability

Today, @re crossed $100 million in stablecoin deposits.
For the first time, digitally native capital is operating at institutional scale inside regulated (re)insurance, supporting people, businesses, and risk takers in the real economy.
That capital now backs hundreds of millions of dollars in premium and hundreds of thousands of policyholders across the United States.
This marks the true beginning of internet capital markets for insurance. A fundamental shift in capital formation and operating leverage for a systemically important industry.
There is now a clear path to many billions forming on-chain to support the insurance market.
We are building this with a team of fewer than a dozen, scaling thoughtfully.

Wild that hundreds of thousands of Re community members, mostly crypto natives, have done more to spread awareness of reinsurance than the industry itself.
It’s a small, lucrative club. They’re letting themselves in.

i see a lot of people chasing roles these days, asking how to get one and what exactly they should do.
come on - just do what you love and what you do best.
truly believe in what you’re doing.
that’s the only way that really matters.
this shouldn’t feel like a job.
