Chopurov maybe won that fight IMO but it was a loss as far as what was expected. Cocky guy with a long way to go to being a contender.
Accurate
Alright. My abridged thoughts on what the #NJDevils gave up for Hellebuyck:
• Alexander Command is the asset that hurts the most, full-stop. Even then, he’s likely 2-3 years out from even debuting in the NHL and has a second-line ceiling that probably won’t be hit for a while.
• Dawson Mercer’s reputation is far more impactful than his actual on-ice value. He’s a middle-six guy who stagnated pretty heavily after 2022-23. He’s not a driver by any means, he initiates forechecks but isn’t great at converting them, and he isn’t stalwart defensively. He works hard on the ice, but so does everyone else on the team.
• Nico Daws is a goalie, and realistically not a super good one. Young and has NHL upside, but the quintessential example of “You never know what you’re gonna get.”
• Nick Bjugstad is whatever. Was never going to play here anyway.
• 2029 2nd and 2027 7th is insane work by Sunny. The Devils remain in possession of all four of their first-rounders in the next two drafts.
Overall: The Devils are getting a top-three goalie in the NHL for a prospect, a middle-sixer, a meh goalie, an injured fourth-liner, and two picks outside of the first round. They keep all of their firsts, Lenni Hämeenaho, Anton Silaev, and Mikhail Yegorov.
Insane work by Sunny here.
Mercer is overrated but if he scores 20-25 goals the Jets got a decent player. Daws clogs up the crease but he's depth and can play. Bjugstad will fit in well with the 8--9 other fourth liners and Command is the real prize. A lotto ticket that is unscratched. Exciting.

I am all for treating the situation in Wainwright carefully, however, when an American base is attacked resulting in similar casualties, we receive information far faster than this. It has been nearly 24 hours. If you want to control the spread of misinformation: share the facts.

Americans tuning into find out what just happened at Wainwright are going to be baffled by the normal nature and pace of Canadian government communications.

According to CSIS, Canada's spy agency, at least 11 MPs and 13 staff were implicated in Chinese foreign interference.
But I don't think that's what Mark Brookfield is talking about here.

So we’ve gone from “shut down their electricity, see how they like it”; to “let’s buy their electricity because we need it”. Seriously, Liberal comedy writes itself.

Joni Mitchell who recently told Canadians at the Juno’s that Mark Carney was a blessing and we were lucky to have him because “you know what’s happening” in the U.S. was just sworn in as an American citizen after waiting 62 years to become one.
I guess it’s not as bad in the U.S. as she tried to let on.
If he offers to come back and the Jets, basically, refuse ....that further diminishes any trade return even further. At this point, just put him on waivers.

This phenomenon must be studied 🇨🇦
The #nhlFlyers are not only not close to winning. They aren't close to scoring a goal and it's been this way since last season playoffs ....it's not a slump.
Seeing more and more come out of woodwork with compliments for Babcock. I'm more convinced he was victim of a witch hunt.
