ALT scott has such a history as an audience surrogate kind of character, he’s so often the likeable everyman who doesn’t fully know what’s going on, so he asks the questions the audience needs to know the answers to and reacts to situations like the filmmakers expect the audience to react “do you think that suit is how she goes through walls and stuff?” when the movie wants us asking questions about ava’s powers. weirded out by ava when she’s being weird. “oh man i thought you were cool!” when they want us shocked by bill’s plot twist these are all just rapid-fire amatw examples with my favs bc they were the first thing i thought of bc i love amatw and i love my favs, but. very much a thing in am1 too (all the exposition about pym particles, ants, etc is given directly to scott! bc the audience also needs to know it! and he’s confused and skeptical and freaked out about all the ant stuff in the same way the audience is expected to be)
