1. Boy, Amazon is in a heap of trouble. Evidence made public today by California AG @AGRobBonta shows blatant price fixing. And there are so many examples. Here's Amazon scheming with a pet food supplier to get Chewy to raise its prices.

We need a RICO act for corporate crime. Dollar General routinely overcharges customers. In NY, it's paying $1.9M after it failed 43% of price inspections & overcharged on 14% of items. Many states have found the same. But it keeps happening, because the fines are too small.

If the states succeed in breaking up Live Nation, it could stop or reverse the decline of independent music clubs, which are essential to bands just starting out. "Independents 'are the ones who give us our first shows. They’re the ones who work with us when we can draw 100 people,' he said."

I love this video. Tribal nations across the country are building their own broadband networks, gaining control over infrastructure that's essential to their communities. It's been an honor for ILSR to help lead dozens of these tribal broadband bootcamps. youtube.com/watch?v=Qfao9fNs…

The Knot has been a disaster for Permia. The loans trades at 53 cents on the dollar. Added PIK component in recent restructuring. See this time and time again with consolidations. Buyers spend so much effort trying to monopolize the mkt via spreadsheet. Biz ends up failing bc the product deteriorates.

No one seems to be paying attention to this either (too much going on!) but I think FTC has a good shot at winning appeal on their antitrust case to break up Meta. Final briefs were just filed in DC. FTC argues (1) timing and (2) TikTok analysis was wrong. I totally agree. /1

The FTC and 12 states are suing to stop the playground maker Power Play from rolling up yet another rival. The case draws on the 2023 Khan/Kanter merger guidelines, which call for scrutinizing the cumulative effects of serial acquisitions. axios.com/2026/10/20/playpow…

1. The Knot wants to buy rival wedding platform Zola. Antitrust enforcers should block this. It would further concentrate control over how thousands of independent photographers, florists, caterers, and other wedding businesses reach customers.

3. The Knot is already facing allegations of abusing small businesses. Vendors report paying thousands for fake leads & getting trapped in ad contracts. In April, Sen. Grassley urged the FTC to investigate, based on 100s of complaints his office received. grassley.senate.gov/imo/medi…

4. Now The Knot wants to swallow another major rival. Antitrust enforcers should stop this deal before The Knot gains still more leverage over these businesses.

With Meta shutting down No Kings, Ellison blocking TikTok ads for a documentary on Elon, Amazon supplying tech for ICE.... It's a good time to remember that this story has played out before.

This is what billionaire ownership of the media means: Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta shut down the No Kings account for hours during the height of their protests. Meta suppressed accounts supporting Brazil President Lula da Silva in the recent election. Larry Ellison’s TikTok blocked advertising for a documentary criticizing Elon Musk. Fight back. Defeat oligarchy. Preserve democracy.

New from me: Her bid for the chair spot sets up a fight over the direction the Democratic Party takes in how deals with corporate power in the next Congress.
Rep. Becca Balint (D-VT) has thrown her hat in the ring for the chair position of the House Antitrust Subcommittee should Democrats regain control of Congress after the midterm elections. prospect.org/?p=146356

It’s the same infuriating story again and again. Corporate giant acquires slightly smaller corporate giant. They stop competing for your business. Prices shoot up. We foot the bill. It’s a symptom of a fundamentally broken system. The FTC needs to BLOCK THIS MERGER.

"The rapid increase in state antitrust lawsuits has frustrated business executives... Uncertainty over whether and when states will intervene is acting as an invisible tax on dealmaking..." Good.
