Dear MOAs,
Consider me your older brother in this fandom for a moment.
This is BLUINK speaking. I’m an adult who has lived a little longer, seen a few things, and gained some life experience when it comes to situations like this and how they tend to unfold. I wanted to share something with you that might help you understand what’s happening, how misinformation works, and how we can deal with it without allowing it to consume us.
I want to introduce you to something called Brandolini’s Law, also known as the Bullshit Asymmetry Principle.
The principle is simple: the amount of energy required to refute bullshit is an order of magnitude greater than the energy required to produce it.
Think about that for a moment.
Someone can make up a rumor in seconds. They can post a lie, add a few misleading details, and watch it spread across the internet. But correcting that lie requires research, evidence, context, explanations, and time. By the time the truth catches up, the false narrative may already have reached thousands of people.
And even when the truth comes out, the lie doesn’t necessarily disappear.
That is exactly why I want you to think carefully about how you respond to what’s happening with #choiSoobin.
First, please stop panicking. Take a breath.
We have an official statement from BIGHIT MUSIC addressing these claims as false rumors. That statement should be our factual reference point, rather than anonymous accounts, unverified allegations, or whatever someone decides to post next.
We need to stop treating every new post as if it changes everything we already know. We need to stop allowing strangers on the internet to dictate our emotions every single day.
Soobin has appeared on livestreams and attended public events. From what we’ve seen, he has continued showing up and carrying himself with composure. We cannot know everything he is feeling privately, and we shouldn’t pretend that we do. But we can recognize that he is continuing to show up, and we can take a breath instead of assuming the worst every time we see another rumor.
Please, don’t let unverified claims convince you that everything is falling apart.
Second, let’s stop giving these people exactly what they want: attention.
I know how infuriating it is to see someone spread harmful claims about another person, especially when those claims involve something as serious as violating someone’s privacy, exploiting their image, or falsely claiming to have known them.
It’s disgusting to watch someone turn another person’s dignity into entertainment.
And when the person behind this content continues appearing on livestreams, laughing, making jokes, and seemingly enjoying the attention surrounding the situation, it’s difficult not to feel angry. From what I’ve observed, I see no convincing sign of remorse. Their behavior comes across as though the entire situation is something to laugh about rather than something that has caused harm.
But here’s the thing: our outrage can become part of the machinery that keeps their content alive.
Every quote-tweet, every angry reply, every argument, and every attempt to expose them can push their posts in front of even more people. We can end up helping the very narrative we’re trying to stop.
We are no longer dealing only with a rumor. We are also dealing with the attention economy, where controversy can become a tool for visibility and, potentially, money.
Some accounts may be chasing engagement, social status, or financial rewards. We cannot know every person’s motivation, but we don’t need to establish their motives to recognize the problem.
So please, let’s be smarter about this.
Third, use Community Notes. Report the accounts. Keep the evidence organized.
I’ve noticed that people often pay attention to Community Notes because they offer additional context directly beneath misleading posts. That’s why I believe we should make better use of them.
When you encounter a post spreading false or misleading claims about Soobin:
* Report it through the platform’s reporting system when it violates the rules.
* Contribute to Community Notes when you have reliable sources and verifiable evidence that provide necessary context.
* Keep records of relevant posts and evidence, including links, usernames, dates, and screenshots where appropriate, especially when documenting potentially harmful conduct.
* Avoid spreading the original claim further just to condemn it. You can correct misinformation without giving it another audience.
* Don’t harass, threaten, or target anyone. Let the evidence speak for itself.
Community Notes are not a magic solution, and they don’t guarantee that every false post will be corrected. But providing reliable context is a far more constructive approach than getting trapped in endless arguments.
Remember Brandolini’s Law. We cannot spend all our energy responding to every piece of nonsense someone throws at us. We need to choose our actions carefully.
Fourth, please understand that legal action takes time.
Some of you may be wondering whether BIGHIT MUSIC is doing anything. I understand that concern. From the outside, it can sometimes look as though nothing is happening.
But the absence of a public update does not necessarily mean that no action is being taken.
Legal proceedings involving people in different countries can be complicated. Gathering evidence, identifying individuals, establishing jurisdiction, and pursuing legal remedies can take time. Someone may continue posting harmful content while those processes are underway.
That doesn’t automatically mean the company is doing nothing, nor does it guarantee a particular outcome.
We need to understand the difference between wanting immediate consequences and understanding how accountability actually works.
Please be patient. Keep documenting relevant evidence. Use the available reporting mechanisms. Let the appropriate processes take their course.
And please don’t interpret every quiet day as a reason to panic.
Fifth, let’s remember what the situation actually looks like now.
Five days ago, this situation felt much bigger and more overwhelming than it does now. Since #BIGHITMUSIC released its statement, things have begun to settle, at least from what I’ve observed.
That doesn’t mean every problem has disappeared. It means we should recognize that the situation is not necessarily getting worse every time we open this app.
I’m speaking to you from Brazil. We’ve just come through an intense period of political debate and activity, and I’ve been trying to find the space to sit down and speak to you more thoughtfully about all of this.
I barely use this platform, so it’s a little strange for me to be sitting here writing a long message on Twitter. But I wanted to talk to you because I think we need to approach this situation with a clearer understanding of how social media works.
Anger gets engagement. Outrage gets engagement. Conflict gets engagement.
Supportive messages don’t always receive the same visibility.
Over the past few days, I’ve sent Soobin several messages of support on this account. I don’t know whether any of them ever reached him, and I’m not going to pretend they did. But I know that I wanted to send them, and I know that they came from a genuine place.
The problem is that platforms like this can make it feel as though the loudest voices represent everyone, when they don’t.
So here’s something I want you to do.
When you see a beautiful message supporting Soobin, leave a like. When you see someone expressing love for TXT, share their post. When you find something that celebrates the members, their music, their hard work, or the happiness they bring into our lives, give that content some attention.
Don’t just engage with the people spreading hate. Engage with the people spreading love, too.
Let’s make our support visible. Let’s help positive messages reach more people. Let’s remind one another why we became #MOA in the first place.
And as for the people who insist on spreading rumors, provoking fans, and turning someone else’s suffering into entertainment?
Let them talk to themselves.
Let the pigs keep rumination as their only activity, if that’s what they choose to do. We don’t have to stand there feeding them attention.
They can keep making noise. We can choose to do something better with our time.
Sixth, let’s focus on TXT.
The members are continuing to show up and do their jobs. From what we can see publicly, they are maintaining their composure and carrying on despite the circumstances.
They deserve to have their work celebrated. They deserve to see their fans talking about their music, their achievements, their comeback, and the things they’ve worked so hard to share with us.
Let’s focus on the album. Let’s focus on the comeback. Let’s send TXT messages of encouragement. Let’s support Soobin and the other members without allowing this situation to become the only thing we talk about.
We can be angry about injustice without allowing anger to become our entire existence.
We can demand accountability without sacrificing our peace.
We can defend someone without turning ourselves into a permanent battlefield.
And yes, sometimes we might lose our patience and say something harsh when someone is doing something genuinely awful. We’re human. Nobody expects us to be perfectly composed every second of every day.
But we can recognize when our anger stops being useful. We can step back, breathe, and decide what actually helps.
Not every provocation deserves a response. Not every rumor deserves another audience. Not every stranger on the internet deserves access to your emotional energy.
Please remember that.
Finally, I want you to take care of yourselves.
One of the things Brandolini’s Law teaches us is that the person creating the misinformation doesn’t necessarily have to carry the burden of correcting it. That burden often falls on everyone else.
But you don’t have to accept that burden indefinitely.
You can report a post, provide evidence, support a correction, and then leave. You can choose not to read another hundred comments. You can close the app and go back to your life.
The world can feel unbearably complicated when you’re standing in the middle of a crisis. Sometimes, when we finally step away from it, we realize that a few clear, consistent actions would have done more good than days of panic and endless arguments.
So breathe, MOAs. Please breathe.
Let’s be consistent in how we respond. Let’s be responsible with the information we share. Let’s stop turning every new post into another emergency.
And let’s remember that our community is bigger than the people who want to hurt it.
I know this might sound a little funny coming from an adult man who is addressing a fandom made up, in large part, of younger women. But when I called myself your older brother at the beginning of this letter, I meant it in the sense of someone who wants to share a little perspective and remind you that you don’t have to face every difficult situation by yourself.
If any of you feel abandoned, overwhelmed, or as though you’re carrying too much right now, I want you to know that I see you.
I know my words aren’t the hug you would actually want right now. I know that, if you could choose, you’d probably want to see Soobin smiling freely, without having to deal with any of this.
And I hope we get to see that smile many, many more times.
Until then, please take care of your hearts. Don’t let strangers on the internet steal every moment of peace you have.
Support #Soobin. Support #TXT. Support one another.
Keep your heads clear, your hearts steady, and your actions thoughtful.
Take a deep breath. And another one.
Everything doesn’t have to be solved today.
Sending you all a big hug, with peace, love, and solidarity.
From Brazil, with love,
BLUINK 🩵
Your older brother in the MOA community.
