I sleep peacefully knowing I fully realized that this was football's highest peak. Some live in denial and resentment that there was a Lionel Messi before. Some live in hope and desperation that there will be a Lionel Messi after. I however, merely smile.

¡Mucha fuerza, DT! 🙏🏻
I think Kily Gonzalez is putting in extra effort to try and make Leo not feel the void of the loss of a fatherly figure in his life. A blessing as a coach, love him ♥️

How do real human beings say a Ballon d'Or won by LIONEL MESSI is underserved man? They are NPCs or something. Jose Mourinho was once asked whether Sneijder, his player at Inter, was robbed in 2010. He simply replied "Who won? Messi? So no robbed", with a smile. Simple 🤷

Cuti Romero: "What player I wanted to be when I was growing up? I grew up watching Barca for Leo and the defenders I looked up to were Puyol and Piqué." @losedul
Guys read it carefully, "He has the profile: humble, family oriented, and a good guy". That is Messi's legacy, that is how he wanted to be remembered as well. More than anything, he changed the perception of how a superstar must be, and who should be idolized 🐐♥️
🚨 Cuti Romero: "I WOULD GIVE THE NUMBER 10 TO JULIÁN ÁLVAREZ."
"To be honest, I would retire the number 10, put up a mural at the AFA headquarters, and leave it at that, so nobody has to carry that responsibility. But that’s not possible, so I don’t know...
"I would give it to Julián. Of course, everyone has their own opinion. I see him as someone who has that profile: humble, family-oriented, and a good guy.
"He has the qualities, all those important things needed to wear the number 10. I think he would like it. I’ve told him many times, but he wants to keep wearing his own number.” @losedul
Ultimately whether you like it or not, Ballon d'Or is a 'one big hoax'. It sells itself as being awarded to the 'best player in the world' right? Tell me, do you really think the difference between Messi and Ronaldo as players was a mere 8:5 ratio? 14:1 more like.
I am a Messi fan but I absolutely admire Lamine, he embodied the essence of football over the last two seasons. Messi FC and Yamal FC if anything, should make a truce and fight against those who are anti-football instead (those who make it all about a stat sheet).
Why did you stop there? What's three more? Add Messi (2009, 2011, 2012) as well while you are at it. Hell, Messi is the worst player in football history, he just sat on the pitch scratching his balls doing nothing for 20 years. He personally contacts journalists to vote for him.
The most controversial Ballon d’Or wins in football history and who people thought should have won .
🇪🇸 Rodri (2024) — Vinícius Jr.
🇦🇷 Messi (2023) — Erling Haaland
🇦🇷 Messi (2021) — Robert Lewandowski
🇦🇷 Messi (2010) — Wesley Sneijder
🇵🇹 Ronaldo (2013) — Franck Ribéry
🇮🇹 Cannavaro (2006) — Thierry Henry
🇨🇿 Nedvěd (2003) — Thierry Henry
🇧🇷 Kaká (2007) — Cristiano Ronaldo
🇦🇷 Messi (2019) — Virgil van Dijk
🇦🇷 Messi (2015) — Cristiano Ronaldo
Which one was the BIGGEST robbery? 👀
Everything said here is correct. But my question is, why should the campaigns matter, why should the clubs' push matter? Aren't these journalists picked carefully so that they are responsible and decisive with their voting? Not far-fetched to even say they used AI for their lists
I am not even exaggerating here, but Messi is one switch to being a pure midfielder away from competing with the next generation as well. The only reason his body can't give him 50-60 matches a season in Europe is because he still does EVERYTHING.
Listen when all is said and done, logic dictates that this was the last ever Ballon d'Or nomination for Messi. But do I really believe it? Idk, he is like those Marvel movie franchises man, was that the last movie? Who knows 😭
Regardless of whether Lamine won it or not tonight, I would have said the same thing. Not only Barca but football needs and wants the Lamine of the last 2 seasons, not the current numbers-obsessed statistician. That is when Barca have the best chance of winning trophies as well.
