Every day, people travel to work, take their children to school, transport goods, and journey to see their loved ones. Everyone deserves to reach their destination safely.
But how do we move beyond road safety awareness to create safer communities and support economic growth?
Join us this Thursday as Sam Bambanza Nabimanya, ED of @stassuganda shares his insights on the role we can all play in making our roads safer.

Let’s have a meaningful conversation about the actions we can take to protect lives, because behind every journey is a person, a family, and someone waiting for them to arrive safely. – at Kampala, Uganda
Rainy days are here.
Before you hit the road, take a moment to check your tyres. Worn-out tyres can make it harder to control your car on wet roads.
Please, don’t wait for a crash to act. Good tyres help keep you and everyone else on the road safe.

Road safety is a shared responsibility, and preventing crashes requires more than words; it calls for collective action.
At the #SMARTJourneysUG Project launch, Mr. Michael Kananura, Community Liaison Officer/Public Relations Officer, emphasized the need to shift from responding to crashes to proactively preventing them. Behind every bus journey are lives, families and livelihoods that depend on everyone arriving safely.
He reminded stakeholders that road safety begins long before a vehicle hits the highway. The real difference comes when awareness is translated into practical measures that protect passengers, drivers and communities.

Road safety is everyone’s responsibility.
@M_Kananura called on all road users to play their part in preventing crashes instead of pointing fingers when things go wrong. Safer roads begin when we each take responsibility for our actions.

SP Kananura also condemned road corruption, stressing that both the giver and receiver of a bribe share responsibility.
He urged road users to reject bribery and follow the lawful process when cited for an offence.
With 15 lives lost and many others injured, stronger preventive action is urgently needed. Every life matters.

Road crashes are not inevitable. With the right behaviours, responsible decisions and safety measures, many can be prevented.
Sam Bambanza, Executive Director of Safe Transport and Survivors Support Uganda (STASSU) and Road Safety Advocate, reminds us that safer roads start with all of us. 🧵 – at Kampala, Uganda
Passengers are not luggage. They are mothers, fathers, children, friends and family members who are counting on someone to get them safely to their destination.
Every passenger has a story, people who love them and a life that matters. Their safety must always come first. – at Kampala, Uganda
Sam Bambanza's message is simple but powerful:
Every passenger is a life worth protecting.
Let’s go beyond talking about road safety and take practical action to prevent crashes, protect lives and build a safer transport system for Uganda.

Transport risks are interconnected, and managing them requires looking at the entire vehicle operation journey, not just one part of it.
During the SMART Journeys Project conversation last week, Kenneth Kawalya, Head of Credit, Business and Commercial Banking at Stanbic Bank Uganda, highlighted why a holistic approach to transport risk management matters. 🧵
#SMARTJourneys #TheExtraMile
Insurance is more than just a requirement. It helps keep businesses moving.
By supporting repair costs and reducing the financial impact of incidents, insurance helps transport operators protect their investments and maintain business continuity.
Strong early warning systems are equally important in identifying risks before they become bigger operational or financial challenges.
#SMARTJourneys #TheExtraMile
At Stanbic Bank Uganda, the commitment to sustainable financing goes hand in hand with supporting safer transport operations.
As we work towards safer journeys and fewer preventable losses, one message stands out:
The safest fleet is the most bankable fleet.

On Tuesday, 6th October, 2026, we joined @liberty_uganda as they officially launched the SMART Journeys Project.
This brought together government, regulators, transport operators, financiers and road safety partners with the aim of having a conversation on how to prevent road crashes.
#SMARTJourneysUG
The #SMARTJourneysUG project goes beyond creating awareness by promoting practical transport risk management, with a focus on safer driver behaviour, vehicle fitness, proper cargo handling and safer journeys for everyone on the road.
Remember, Road Safety because with you and me. – at Kampala, Uganda
