Smaller showcases are great, HOWEVER Iโve never struggled to get player profile sheets at ECNL or GA. Coaches, parents, players - it doesnโt matter the level, but there has to be a way to identify and contact players otherwise being recruited will be nearly impossible!
If your dream is to play at one of the most competitive college soccer programs, you need to understand how recruiting really works.
College coaches have limited recruiting budgets, staff, and time. Because of that, they spend much of their recruiting calendar at the events where they can evaluate the largest concentration of top talent.
That means players competing in ECNL, Girls Academy (GA), and MLS NEXT often receive more exposureโnot because success is guaranteed, but because theyโre playing in front of more college coaches.
Can players from smaller clubs get recruited? Absolutely. It happens every year. But the path is typically more challenging and often requires more proactive outreach and exceptional performances.
The truth: Put yourself in environments where college coaches are already looking. It wonโt guarantee an offer, but it can significantly improve your opportunities.

COLLEGE SOCCER TRUTH
Players, who donโt pass their fitness test donโt just lose the testโฆ they lose opportunities.
Every coach notices who came back prepared and who didnโt.
Failing the fitness test can mean:
โฝ Starting preseason behind everyone else.
โฝ Less playing time early in the season.
โฝ Less trust from the coaching staff.
โฝ Spending valuable training time trying to catch up instead of improving.
Fitness is one of the few things you can control before preseason starts.
Donโt show up hoping youโre in shape. Show up knowing you are.
