WCC has plenty of money for cycle lanes but can't ever fix big potholes in streets. They could apply to the Geographic board to name this new lake soon.
Anybody who thinks that passports are an impediment to Trans Tasman flights doesn't fly often. 30 seconds at each end for a passport check is not an issue. What is an impediment for travel is the ~$320 of taxes and service charges that goes straight to Governments and airports.
Where was Chris Faafoi in 2022 when he was a member of the Government that oversaw the first major review of FENZ funding that decided the status quo was the best option for funding FENZ? thepost.co.nz/business/36108…

So WCC which has no money, and Metlink that has no money, have both decided that the Harbour Quays bus project which is a terrible idea will proceed. Must be great to just decide that ratepayer views don't matter when they're the ones needing to pay for another vanity project.
National wanting to break up Foodstuffs into two groups is truly unfucking believable. Breaking up a NZ owned cooperative so that an Australian owned business becomes the latest grocery player in the market is just full on crazy.
The fact Woolworths only achieved an EBIT of $163m in the last FY should put the totally fictitious "supermarkets are making excess profits of $1m day" to bed for good. Anybody who still believes that can't read a balance sheet. It's a big numbers but low margin business.
It's like @PullarStrecker read my mind and wrote a column about what I've been saying for years.. Woolworths are just a disaster. A terrible poorly run supermarket business that really doesn't deserve public support. thepost.co.nz/business/36106…
So 82% of people believe Labour's CGT will fail as it relies on a minimum of 3% growth every year to actually work. stuff.co.nz/home-property/36…
Serious shake up of the Air NZ board. Hopefully Dame Therese realises her time is up sooner rather than later.
Our media is so desperate to be the news rather than reporting the news. If you don't understand metric tonnes and kg are not the same thing you should probably stop trying to be smart and write about things you don't understand. stuff.co.nz/politics/3610203…
