Pat released a SUPERWEAPON for Bitcoin Cash 🔥
This week Pat, a key Bitcoin Cash developer, released a new superweapon for Bitcoin Cash: Solidity contracts that run on $BCH.
NEW PROJECT REGISTERED ON BCH-1
SolidCash is a language and compiler built on CashScript. A developer writes Solidity, the compiler emits Bitcoin Cash Script, and the contract keeps its state between transactions even though BCH has no account database and no storage slot to write to.
ON L1, NOT OFF IT
Every other proof-of-work chain sends Solidity off-chain. A sidechain, a rollup, a bridge, a wrapped coin. SolidCash keeps it on L1: the Solidity and EVM model, running directly on Bitcoin's model.
That sounds impossible until you see where the state goes.
WHERE THE STATE LIVES
Into tokens. The contract becomes a CashToken category, and its variables move into the commitments of NFTs that the contract owns: one minting NFT for identity, data NFTs for fields, entry NFTs for mapping rows, chunk NFTs for long strings.
A contract stops being an account and becomes a small set of coins. Calling a function spends those coins and recreates them with new values, and the script checks the replacement before the transaction confirms.
That works until the contract reads a mapping.
HOW A MISSING KEY IS PROVEN
A transaction chooses which coins to include. If a balance sits in an entry the spender leaves out, a naive contract reads zero and hands over the goods.
SolidCash makes every mapping a sorted linked list. A read spends either the exact entry, or the entry just before where the key would sit. The second case proves absence, because the link that should point at the key points past it instead.
Then the contract needs to talk to another contract.
HOW CALLS WORK
Bitcoin Cash has no call opcode. A call is two contracts appearing in the same transaction, each checking the other's output. There is no call stack and no re-entry window, because there is no middle of an execution to re-enter.
That is also why a catch block compiles but never runs, and why a low-level call reports success even when the called code fails.
CURRENT WORK
Bytes. A contract's script must fit inside 10,000 bytes, because that is the most one input can carry. A small stateful counter lands under two thousand. A ported marketplace application compiled to 144,485 bytes, so it runs on a mock network with relaxed limits rather than under mainnet rules.
The team calls its own release a mocknet beta. @mainnet_pat has said contract splitting or per-function splitting will work, but in a future release.
WHY BCH-1 IS TRACKING IT
Because the constraint is now visible, and it is a protocol constraint rather than a compiler one. If Solidity developers can reach BCH, this is a major paradigm shift in onboarding developers.
The language works. The state model works. What comes next is getting real applications under the byte limit.
2027 is the year Bitcoin Cash's Cambrian explosion of smart contract and token apps arrives. BCH-1 will be by their side, tracking what ships and moving the needle.

SolidCash is out: write Solidity, run it on Bitcoin Cash.
Near-complete Solidity parity. Stateful contracts. A real EVM project, @eaccmarket, running on BCH*. One year of active development, and more than a year of tinkering before that.
None of this was possible before the BCH 2026 upgrade. The upgrade gave the VM the room. SolidCash is what you can do with it.
What SolidCash is:
- solidc, the compiler: .scash source to runtime artifacts
- solidcash, the TypeScript SDK: contracts, transactions, network providers, debugging
- solidhat, the Hardhat analog: whole-project compilation, in-process test network, deployments, generated bindings
- Ethers 5 and 6 shims, so existing EVM tooling habits carry over
What that opens up: a full stablecoin USDT contract on BCH, unwrapping to native CashTokens. ERC-20 contracts that wrap existing CashTokens. EVM bridges. The EVM-like DEXes, lending and DeFi that BCH has been missing. Embrace them.
If you can write Solidity, you can write SolidCash.
Try it: npm create @solidcash/solidhat@latest my-contracts
Or point your AI at it. Solidity parity means your coding agent already knows most of the language. Hand it the agent reference at solidcash.org/AGENTS.md together with your Solidity contract, and let it do the port or cross-compilation.
Disclaimer: this is still a beta. Do not bet too much value on it. Security might need further hardening, and there will be undiscovered gaps. Found a gap? Open an issue and send the contract that broke. Let us close them together and make it better.
Thanks to molecular (@cotta3) and @toorik for the initial support.

Few people know Bitcoin Cash has smart contracts that are easy to write.
The language is called @CashScriptBCH . It has been around since 2019, it looks like Solidity, and it compiles down to the native scripting system that already runs on Bitcoin Cash. No sidechain, no virtual machine bolted on top, no bridge holding your money while the contract executes.
Here is a complete escrow contract:
pragma cashscript ^0.14.0;
contract TransferWithTimeout(pubkey sender, pubkey recipient, int timeout) {
function transfer(sig recipientSig) {
require(checkSig(recipientSig, recipient));
}
function timeout(sig senderSig) {
require(checkSig(senderSig, sender));
require(tx.time >= timeout);
}
}
Two ways to spend. The recipient can take the money whenever they sign. The sender can take it back after the timeout. That is a working escrow, and it fits in a screenshot.
WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT FROM SOLIDITY
CashScript borrows Solidity's syntax and almost none of its problems.
On Ethereum, a contract is an account with storage that lives forever. On Bitcoin Cash, a contract is an address that holds coins and nothing else. There is no stored state to corrupt, no self-destruct, no delegatecall, and no reentrancy, because there is nothing to re-enter. A transaction either satisfies the contract's conditions or it does not, and every node checks that in isolation.
There is also no gas. You pay a fee based on the size of the transaction, not on a computation budget that can spike while you are waiting. A contract that costs a fraction of a cent to use is arithmetic.
WHAT CHANGED THIS YEAR
Bitcoin Cash activated four upgrades in May 2026 under the name Layla, and they matter directly to anyone writing CashScript.
Bounded loops arrived. Before, if a contract needed to check five outputs, you wrote the same verification logic five times. Now you write it once and loop. Functions arrived as well, so shared validation lives in one place. Bitwise operations came back, which lets a contract pack several permissions into a single token commitment and check one bit instead of comparing whole values. And Pay to Script made contract outputs a standard type, instead of a wrapper the rest of the network had to work around.
The tooling followed. The compiler learned loops, the new bitwise operators and Pay to Script first. Then came reusable functions with multiple return values, imports so contracts can share code across files, global constants, and stack traces when a function fails.
The practical difference is not cosmetic. One team rebuilding a prediction market contract collapsed pages of duplicated verification into a loop with a variable offset. More importantly, batch operations became possible: multiple buyers in one transaction, where before the contract hardcoded one.
WHAT IS ALREADY BUILT
This is not a proposal. Contracts written in CashScript are holding real money today.
@BCH_BULL is the clearest example. It is a consumer app for leveraged long, short and hedge positions on BCH against dollars, gold, BTC and other assets, at up to 7.77x leverage, with no custodian. Every position is its own smart contract, generated on demand, and those contracts come from AnyHedge, which is written in CashScript.
@ParyonUSD , the collateralised stablecoin, runs on 26 separate CashScript contracts. They are open source under an MIT licence, published to npm as a package other developers can import, and they have been through two external audits, the first delivered in three passes. Borrowing, redemption, liquidation and a stability pool are all enforced by script on the base layer.
The same pattern shows up across the ecosystem. FundTokens runs on 20 CashScript contracts. Paytaca use it for escrow in peer to peer trades, where two strangers need a rule instead of a middleman. Tapswap uses it for non-custodial token sale offers. Bitcats Heroes, Cash-Ninjas and BCH PUMP all ship contracts written in it, for NFTs and token launches.
One honest note on the ceiling. Cauldron, the main DEX on BCH, is written in raw Script rather than CashScript, and its constant product contract is a stack of opcodes that most developers would not want to hand-write. That route stays open for teams that need it. CashScript is the layer above, and its own documentation ships a version of that same DEX contract rewritten in the high-level language.
WHY THIS MATTERS MORE THAN IT SOUNDS
Every other ecosystem solves programmability by adding a layer. A rollup, a sidechain, a bridge, a sequencer. Each one is a new system with its own bugs, its own trust assumptions and its own operators.
Bitcoin Cash solves it inside the transaction. A CashScript contract is just a locking script, and the coins in it are protected by the same proof-of-work as every other coin on the chain. There is no second system to audit, because the contract is the system.
The code is short because the model removes entire categories of failure before you write a line.
WHERE IT GOES NEXT
The interesting shift is what developers can now build without leaving the base layer. Loops and functions turn a contract from a fixed decision tree into something that can iterate over a batch. Bitwise operations turn a token commitment into a compact permission record. Pay to Script shrinks the cost of the outputs those contracts create.
Put together, that is the toolset for order books, vesting schedules, escrows with arbiters, recurring payments, and lending markets that settle atomically.
Bitcoin Cash is programmable bitcoin.

🌟 Mid-Week BCH Marketing Boost 🌟
While others ride in with big budgets and dark armies of hype, Bitcoin Cash stands in the middle of the road: spending sats, supporting merchants, no foundation, no marketing DAO — just unapologetic decentralised resilience.
That is our strength - and our responsibility.
No one is coming to market BCH for us. Awareness, adoption and real usage only grow when people who believe in free, fast, peer-to-peer cash decide to show up.
Simple Daily Action:
1️⃣ Build a short list of BCH builders, wallets, merchants and creators you respect
2️⃣ Spend 5–10 minutes a day boosting them - like, thoughtful comment, quote-retweet
Every interaction compounds.
Visibility → Curiosity → New users → Stronger Network.
This week: pick 3–5 accounts, give them a boost, and tag a BCH project you support below.
Let’s build the free future - one post at a time.

Fulcrum 2.1.4 has just been released. Get it here: github.com/cculianu/Fulcrum/…
It contains a very nice speedup for wallet synching submitted by Cake Wallet's @sethforprivacy . Thanks Seth!
So, uh, I found a novel speed up for Fulcrum that drastically speeds up history queries and thus wallet sync for @cakewallet 🤯
Every call from a typical wallet gets ~4-6x faster, and wallets with deep history get up to 10x faster.
No client-side changes necessary at all.
Kudos to @Vladcostea for getting me a first-run copy (5 articles) of his awesome @BTCTKVR 'Forks' book.
With the help of Ani and @GraphixbyCM, he captured the various/relevant forks and chainsplits since BTC's inception in beautifully written/visual detail with a lot of extra info and nuance.
I believe you can still contribute to the next run and get a featured credit in the back like @TheBCHPodcast did. The completed version will feature 13 articles and be available early November...a must for any Bitcoiners' coffee table. 💚👊💪
