BREAKING: trump is having a temper tantrum, ending ALL trade negotiations with Canada. He's butthurt that they aired an ad of President Reagan that shows how dumb trump's tariffs are. It's VERY effective. Be a shame if it went viral. 🇺🇲🇨🇦

I’m pleased to say George Abaraonye has been removed as President-Elect of the Oxford Union after members voted by a two-thirds majority. Celebrating a shooting isn’t “debate”. A president should defend free speech, not cheer violence. HUZZAH!

Still, every cloud has a silver lining — and all publicity is good publicity. I’m sure George has a glittering career ahead in identity politics.

But leading the Oxford Union is different. It’s a privilege, not a playground. Members were right to say someone who advocates violence shouldn’t lead an institution built on reasoned argument.

To be clear, I fully respect George’s right to free speech — even when I find his views anti-democratic and in bad taste. University is about learning, testing ideas, and sometimes getting things wrong.

I have resigned as the honorary secretary of the Oxford Literary Debating & Union Trust, the charity that owns the @OxfordUnion’s buildings, and dispenses its charitable responsibilities onto the Union as its delegate. The callousness of the Union’s President-Elect has shocked me, but I also can't accept the lack of intervention on the issue. The trust is full of the most incredible people. I hope this ultimately helps, in a tiny way, a great British institution that I care so much about.

Russian mercenary Igor Mangushev (Bereg) made a performance with the skull of a Ukrainian soldier killed near Azovstal. In his speech, Mangushev said that Russia is at war with the Ukrainian idea, so all Ukrainians must be killed. Still think trading with Russia is a good idea?

INSECURITY ESCALATES: NATO should learn lessons from failing to support Ukraine prior to the invasion. Let’s offer NATO’s support to MOLDOVA - now before it’s too late.

If you're not aware how academic publishing works (in science and social science at least) this thread sheds light. If you are aware, you'll also know that the scammed (academics and universities) seem to mostly passively accept it. Seems strange.
It's hard to overstate what a scam academic and scientific publishing is. 1/

Getting very frustrated with the media continuing to peddle the line that the benefits of the vaccine far outweigh the risks of blood clots. There is NO evidence of the vaccine causing blood clots. Prevalence of blood clots in the vaccinated is no higher than in the unvaccinated.

Spot on analysis from a brilliant OR Professor
“Covid is moving faster than political decision making.“ UCL’s Professor Christina Pagel says the longer politicians take to decide a strategy, “the worse the situation gets” and a full lockdown “still works and is still an option… but comes at a great cost” #Newsnight
