We now have wormeries @ST_NINIANS_PS 🙂
Excited to start producing our own compost and reducing food waste in our school with the introduction of wormeries. With the help of P7 we managed to build and set up two for our @stninplayground Food Growing Project and one for our nursery! #stninoutdoorlearning #sustainability
Have you seen the amazing veg that has been grown @ST_NINIANS_PS over the winter? The raised beds have been dug over and plans are in place for what’s growing next. Hard to believe how much has been achieved in a year

It's European Week for Waste Reduction and the focus is on Circular Communities. Did you know that we have over 100 paving slabs in our school garden and they were all collected locally and laid by volunteers, meaning that no new slabs were needed. #ewwr2021 #circularcommunities
Great to see @ST_NINIANS_PS in first place for active journeys to school in the Transport Day at #COP26 #scotlandwalkoffame. @StirlingCouncil #ActiveTravel Swapping short journeys made by car to walking and cycling can play a key part in reducing our impact on climate change
Congratulations to @AuchtertoolPS @FifeCouncil and @ST_NINIANS_PS @StirlingCouncil for topping the special #scotlandwalkoffame for Transport Day at #COP26 Putting footsteps first to #walkfortheworld with achievable changes that can happen right away. Well done all WOW schools🥳
Green spaces, such as parks & gardens, are important in combatting climate change. @ST_NINIANS_PS have planted lots of trees with #CCAF & @NHSForthValley funding & have achieved Beacon School status with the @TheTreeCouncil Young Tree champion programme. #cop26 @StirlingCouncil
Recycling reduces our carbon footprint @ST_NINIANS_PS we collect crisp packets, used pens & stationery (for @BorestoneP), Kinder chocolate packaging & L.O.L. Surprise! Dolls packaging. @TerraCycleUK There are boxes in the uniform container #cop26 @StirlingCouncil #ClimateCrisis
Every year, a huge amount of things are thrown away, which could be given a new lease of life with just a simple repair. @transitionstir have a small item repair service through their tool library. Find out more: transitionstirling.org.uk/re…
During #Cop26, remember that every change we make plays a part in reducing our carbon footprint. @ST_NINIANS_PS children have made soup from vegetables grown in our own garden. Zero food miles. #learningforsustainability @StirlingCouncil @ScotGovNetZero un.org/en/actnow/food-hero
During #Cop26, remember that every change we make plays a part in reducing our environmental footprint. @ST_NINIANS_PS we have saved 13.5tonnes CO2e by reusing uniform. The equivalent of making 3 cups of tea a day for 272 years #learningforsustainability @StirlingCouncil
During #Cop26, remember that every change we make ourselves plays a huge part in reducing our environmental footprint.
@transitionstir has a tool library. Instead of buying the tools you'll need, you can simply borrow them.

We've built a compost bin for our polytunnel. We will try making leaf compost in it using the leaves that P1A @MrMAndersonSTN have been collecting.
The P5 Gardening Club @ST_NINIANS_PS cleared the polytunnel to get it ready for autumn & winter planting. They harvested pumpkins, courgettes, peppers, chillis, tomatoes #stninplaygroundproject @ScotGovNetZero

It's #WorldFoodDay. @ST_NINIANS_PS we're now planning our Autumn & Winter planting. It's so exciting to have a polytunnel so that we can grow vegetables and herbs in the winter. #stninplaygroundproject @ScotGovNetZero #HealthyEating #learningforsustainability

And one of the easiest ways to recycle is home composting...
Take a look at our website for some composting top tips and advice: gardenorganic.org.uk/compost #RecycleWeek #GreatBigGreenWeek #compost #compostgoals #recycle #wasteless
We save 18 million tonnes of CO2 a year by recycling, the same environmental impact as 27 million of us going veggie. Most of us are stepping it up to take climate change down, and recycling is one of the easiest ways to do it. Take action – recycle more #RecycleWeek
