A few months back, our crew from the #StopThePotomacYardArena campaign took a trip to feel the real heartbeat of DC: the @thegogomuseum 🥁
This vital institution needs our help with their “Sustaining the Beat” campaign today. gogomuseumcafe.com/event/sus…
“Most councilors said the proposed arena at Potomac Yard would be economically positive for the city….” alextimes.com/2024/10/city-h…
“… Two even traveled to Richmond to advocate for it while the city paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to lobbyists. The projected revenue numbers just weren’t credible and residents rejected it – with a big assist from @SenLouiseLucas” alextimes.com/2024/10/city-h…
Let’s all go to this event next week and ask #Alexandria City Council candidates what their position on the Potomac Yard arena was before the project failed. #MonumentalMistake

We wouldn’t be the number one state for business if we had wasted billions of taxpayer dollars on a vanity arena project. You’re welcome Wannabe VP Pick for Tyrannical Trump.

This is why you can't trust that the #MonumentalMistake won't happen again with this Council. Three of the four incumbents don't want you to know they supported the PY arena. Appreciate JTC who was honest in @AlexTimesNews Voter Guide. 🧵

It would be nice if @AlexandriaVAGov City Council had literally ANYTHING to say about their role in the debacle of the PY arena. At least Ted is clear -- it's us, not him, who is the problem.

Thanks to all of the @stop_arena volunteers who came out to the @AlexVADems Debate to pass out flyers and support candidates who spoke about the arena project, reminding others that this topic shouldn’t be forgotten and those who supported it should be held accountable.
The arena exposed what is wrong and that the City is led by developers/development, not leading it. We also got a chance to finally meet up with @MJBofDCA, one of the leaders of the 1992 stadium fight in Alexandria and someone who helped coach us about the tactics t used before!
“Eliminating single family zoning was peeing on my shoes and telling me it’s raining progressive or equitable public policy,” Huskey said. “It was not. And by not requiring developers to have any set asides, people on this council have convinced themselves that trickle
down economics works as housing policy. It doesn’t. We’ve got to put some other people on council who will actually live our progressive values.” alxnow.com/2024/05/31/alexan…

Panthers owner David Tapper is worth $21 billion and easily one of the richest owners in the NFL.
It’s an absolute outrage that anyone is even considering foisting this onto taxpayers.
BREAKING: Charlotte City Council will consider $650 million in improvements to Bank of America Stadium. I'm live next on @wsoctv with details of the project and cost breakdown

FYI: I’ve been in bunch of forums with these folks and I have not heard any reason to believe this Council, given the chance, wouldn’t pursue something similar to the Potomac Yard arena again.
Thanks to the @stop_arena volunteers who came out to pass out flyers at the @AlexVADems Debate. The arena project has come up in discussion and appreciate @j_huskey and @Charlotte4ALX for reminding the audience of that #MonumentalMistake so it doesn’t get repeated in the future.
Come help us pass out flyers tonight to remind people attending this event about who spoke out against the arena and who didn’t. Make sure this issue is on the debate agenda and not forgotten! #MonumentalMistake
