I agree with Seb here. We can't rely on solely off MLS Next to provide options for the national team, the country is too big... So why is it our youth camps are 99% MLS Next? It's simply not possible that the best youth in the US only congregate in MLS cities for MLS academies.
What SANTIAGO CASTAÑEDA means for US soccer 🇺🇸🇨🇴 Castañeda has been handed a USMNT call-up for the November internationals, capping a journey that has taken him from Tampa to Paderborn 👏

I may be yelling at clouds here, but what's the point of this shift? If USA and Canada are in a group and USA gets Teams X, Y, Z from the other 3 pots, that only leaves the Teams A, B, C for Canada. Of course A, B, C, X, Y, Z could all be shuffled. Just b/c USA plays XYZ doesn't mean X has to play Y. But who cares? Is there a reason I'm missing from this shift in format or is it something to be seen as New or Fresh to get the Cup more relevance from frans? EDIT* I've been made aware of my error in that the USA would also play against Canada in this scenario meaning 4 GAMES, not 3 and that changes everything
Concacaf is changing the format of the 2027 Gold Cup. It will feature two groups of eight teams, with each team playing four group stage games. Once the two groups are drawn, teams within each group will be organized into four ranking bands, with each team facing one opponent from each band — top four then advance. youtube.com/watch?v=8q5cicrK…

With Reynolds and Freeman Ive got to assume that even tho Dest is listed as a defender that Poch will likely play him as an attacker (one of the wings/10s in a a 4231). Some key U23s included in this roster despite there being a U23 camp too?? It's nice to see Poch not simply relegate them to that camp and indicates that they've earned their spots to continue to potentially prove themselves. Albert, Sullivan, Mehmeti, Kochen, Pierre, Hall, Ellis all could be with the U23s. 1st time inclusions for Castaneda and Baker-Whiting who could also be with the U23s. Musah, Pepi, Tessman, McKenzie, Miles and a few others seemingly being phased out? I'm sure a mix between playing time, past performances, recovering from injuries, and competition, I'm sure we'll likely see some of those faces again

Longer schedule includes fewer missed classes, longer recovery time, more time to develop chemistry and quality. From a team perspective I don't see a downside What are the issues behind extending the season?
The schools that don’t sponsor men’s soccer need to worry about who and what they support, not men’s soccer. Put the student-athletes first.

only viable option for Erik. Shame he had that long term illness, guy had promise
Per source, Erik Palmer-Brown is likely making a move this January from Panathinaikos. The likely destination appears to be MLS, with several clubs interested in making him a TAM signing (max). The 29-year-old has made four appearances with the #USMNT.

Man, instead of bringing race into the equation, EJ could have emphasized that players like Nevada need to have a coach who has experienced the issues he's experienced being the best in your youth program. Someone who has made it to the top level of the sport and can help him improve.... Which is why I created EJE7 to encourage creativity and further player development..... I feel for his argument that it's a rich white suburban sport... or at least it was in the past during his youth. SAYING THAT, there's an argument that basketball and football were the dominant sports of preference for PoCs in the past. My team in the 90s was quite diverse (anecdotal I know)
EDDIE JOHNSON OFFERS TO TRAIN 3-YEAR-OLD NEVADA 🇺🇸⚽️ The former USMNT striker has offered to train Nevada Pierre at his EJE7 Soccer Academy in Orlando following the viral controversy surrounding his family’s dispute with a Florida youth soccer league. Johnson also used his response to call for more opportunities and role models for children of color in American youth soccer: 🗣️ “Nevada deserves to be around someone that looks like him that can understand him.” He criticized what he described as “a rich suburban sport” controlled by “privileged rich entitled parents,” and said encouraging young players to express themselves was one of the reasons he created his academy: 🗣️ “We encourage freedom and creativity.” 🗣️ “We should be praising a three-year-old with his ability instead of tarnishing it.”

USSF bounced and now CONCACAF?? SUM still profitable with MLS and Mexico's rights, but they are losing a lot of clients
New: @Concacaf is not renewing its commercial sales agreement with @MLS's Soccer United Marketing when it expires at the end of 2026. This follows U.S. Soccer ending its commercial relationship with SUM at the end of 2022 to bring its rights in house.

Last I'll state on the i9/Nevada situation as I think everything is out: i9's perspective: The cops were called because of a dispute between an i9 director and Nevada's parents. According to the 911 call Nevada's mom was being rude, disruptive and following him around calling him names. According to the bodycam footage, the director emphasized that Nevada was really good and scoring a lot so he subbed out players including Nevada. He also mentioned he told the ref a few times to address Nevada pushing players. Parent's perspective: They paid $300 for game play only (no training) and their son was the best on the pitch, but the director kept subbing Nevada out. Both parents state that they (director, coaches, fans, etc...) got into a huddle to discuss her son. They were told that they'd be issued a refund and Nevada was no longer allowed to play in i9 My perspective: All parties are at fault, except for Nevada. Parents complaining about him being good is Lame. Director has to have thicker skin than what was displayed... Lame. Nevada's parents need to understand that at i9 equal playing time is encouraged and despite how good their son is he will be subbed off at times. Sucks for Nevada to be in this position... but he'll be making appearances on Ms. Rachel's show and will be participating Eddie Johnson's academy, so there at least appears to be an upside for the kid.
