Techno’s founding father Juan Atkins has passed away. As a member of Cybotron and the Belleville Three, and through his solo work as Model 500 and Infiniti, the pioneering Detroit producer helped shape the sound and future of electronic music. His agency announced that he was found dead in his hotel room ahead of a scheduled performance in Mexico City yesterday. Atkins was 64.

Released under the legendary lobit netlabel Sub65 Media, this track distills electro, the playful spirit of earlier decades, and tech-house—with even faint echoes of Giorgio Moroder, the father of electro-disco, audible within it. Homeless music, as he describes it.
