learning gpu stuff in public is scary because everyone on here sounds like they were born knowing cuda
me as an intj woman:
will make plans like i'm the most social person alive and then cancel everything to stay home and do absolutely nothing
living in nyc is just paying $8 for an iced vanilla latte, complaining about it out loud, and doing the exact same thing tomorrow
nothing feels better than checking your bank account after payday and realizing you don't have to think about money for the rest of the month
some people wanna go to sf, pay $4k rent to be close to startups that haven't shipped anything in two years and call it networking
i am some people
met a dude at a party last night whose company doesn’t use version control and still writes code ENTIRELY BY HAND. it’s a mysql wrapper. 10million in local healthcare contracts.
1. tech twitter is an insane bubble
2. you actually don’t need anything special to make money
i love being an ai engineer because every adult in my family thinks i'm a genius and my actual job is asking a chatbot why the code broke
the most useful question you can ask an llm is not "are you sure?"
its "what would change your answer?"
tbh a world model is only useful if it knows three things:
- what will happen next
- what it cannot predict and
- when to slow down because of the second one
in just over a month, we've had
- flying cars
- AI solving a Millenium Math problem
- A new antibiotic discovered by AI lab
- 722 AI written Math papers released at once
- A solution to AI alignment
- Google reducing errors 40× in quantum computing, making it practical
- Opus 5 level AI running fully offline
- Opus 5.5 solving motion graphics and automations.
And that's just in the last 5 weeks. IYNYK.
Incredible time to be alive
maybe the real test of intelligence isn't solving harder problems
it's recognizing the same problem when it looks completely different

openai and anthropic arguing over how revenue gets counted is probably more revealing than another model benchmark
we talk about ai replacing jobs like jobs are laws of physics
most modern jobs are weird institutional arrangements humans invented pretty recently
