Yes, that's a technique direct from how public clouds operate, a single layer is ok for small scale but clusters grow to 10s of PB double layer is key. #SupermicroStorage2024

I like @GraidTechnology SupremeRAID for scale-out clusters when the customer needs the additional durability and availability. When a device fails in a scale-out cluster that can cause a few seconds of pause as the bad device is getting thrown out and this eliminates that 'stun'

The other factor is use case.. if its an AI/ML or HPC use case or an object storage use case, those are all scale-out. #SupermicroStorage2024

Scale - if the scale is > 3PB we look at scale-out designs, if it's less that that we look to do a scale-up design. There's exceptions to all the rules and sometimes scale-out makes sense at a smaller scale, especially for all-flash configs. #SupermicroStorage2024
