I genuinely think Ramayana's Kannada dubbed version could be a game changer in the way Kannada audiences embrace dubbed cinema. While we have had dubbed versions of several films over the years, this is perhaps the first time we are witnessing such an overwhelming demand and anticipation for a Kannada version right from the outset. The rumoured first-day collections of over ₹10 crore for the Kannada version, if true, are a strong indication of the kind of potential this market holds. It also sends out a larger message: Kannada audiences are willing to embrace cinema beyond our own industry, provided the effort is made to bring it to them with quality dubbing, localisation and the right intent. This could well be the beginning of a much healthier trend, opening up more cinematic experiences for Kannada audiences while giving dubbed versions the theatrical respect and visibility they deserve. A big shoutout to Yash and the entire team for making this happen. This is a win not just for Ramayana, but potentially for Kannada audiences and the larger ecosystem of dubbed cinema.

Watching Ramayana has been an experience I would describe as surprising, wondrous and, in many ways, deeply gratifying. The Kannada 3D version deserves a special mention. The dialogues were good, the lip sync was remarkably well done and the dubbing was beautifully executed. There has been enough hullabaloo about the background score and the graphics. Honestly, neither bothered me. In fact, I thought both complemented the storytelling rather well. The performances and the narration were only elevated by them. I particularly liked how the film begins its narration with Ravana, tracing his meteoric rise and the circumstances that eventually set the stage for his downfall, leading to the birth of Rama. It is an interesting storytelling choice that gives the narrative a larger canvas right from the beginning. At over three hours, the film has a fairly long runtime, but I remained engaged throughout. There was never a moment when I found myself constantly checking the time or wishing it would move faster. There will undoubtedly be naysayers, and every aspect of a film of this scale will invite scrutiny. But I genuinely believe this is a film that deserves to be celebrated. It is a matter of pride, and rightfully so. Namit Malhotra and Nitesh Tiwari deserve to be commended for the vision and conviction behind this ambitious undertaking. And most importantly, Yash. His performance was, quite literally, the tallest of them all. He brought an imposing presence and conviction to the character, and the sequence featuring Ravana's ten heads was nothing short of magnificent. It was one of those moments that stays with you, not just for its visual scale but for the sheer impact of its execution. As a Kannada star headlining an ambitious cinematic spectacle of this magnitude, Yash gives us yet another reason to take pride. Sometimes, it is important to put aside the noise, sit back and simply enjoy the wonder of cinema. Ramayana gave me that experience.

To get to showcase my film Mouna Raaga at my alma mater, inside the GJB Auditorium, a space that holds so many memories for me, is truly special. What makes this even more meaningful is that the invitation comes from the Department of Journalism, the very department I studied in at Mount Carmel, where I also had the privilege of serving as the Secretary of the Journalism Association. To return to the place where so much of my journey began, this time with a film of my own, feels incredibly full circle. Looking forward to this one with a very full heart.

#AmericaAmerica2

Just want to say this, @TheNameIsYash — you’ve genuinely tried something out of the box rather than taking the predictable route of making another regular, expected, formulaic follow-up to your previous commercial blockbuster. It takes a different mindset, conviction, and most importantly, the guts to attempt something like this. #Toxic is an unusual and commendable attempt. There are several portions that are genuinely intriguing and open to great debate, discussion, and learning. Kudos to you for daring to experiment and step away from the conventional. Bestest wishes, my friend. ❤️🤗 L&H’s ❤️🤗 K

I see many speaking about the end of the Kannada Film Industry following the mixed response to #Toxic. To them, I say, the industry was not made by KGF or Kantara either, like they presumed then. Those small films we delegate to OTT, those always kept the industry afloat.
