“Most people are trying to come across as intelligent / competent”
Very powerful.
This is obvious when someone is *selling* themselves in situations like interviews or fundraising, but realising that it is true in most scenarios puts a different perspective.
one of the most common reasons folks don’t join early stage startups is because of risk or instability.
Hearing the Microsoft voluntary exit and layoffs happening at almost every large companies, does the risk comparison stay the same ?
Just trying to simulate why would they do this instead of simply laying off ? Ones deciding this must be pretty smart folks.
> Public markets would see this differently than a layoff ?
> Internal Morale would stay better because of it ?
> More motivated folks stay back resulting in more energised team.
None of this adds up.
BREAKING: Microsoft, $MSFT, is offering buyouts to 60,000 workers as part of the company’s efforts to cut costs amid AI adoption, per Bloomberg.
Personnel on select teams in the US, Canada, India, and the UK at a vice president level and below will be eligible.
This reflects ~27% of Microsoft's total workforce.
use the "no-brainer referral" test to get real feedback from your manager, leader or founder
"If everyone on the team got laid off tomorrow, would I be a no-brainer referral to your friends or professional network? what should I improve to become one?"
Why this works:
> a genuine referral is one of the strongest endorsements you can get. you're asking what would make someone put their reputation behind you, beyond being happy with your work.
> the framing makes candid feedback easier to give. you've already acknowledged there might be gaps, so they don't have to be the one to bring that up.
this works the best when you're doing well and want to get to great.

80000 rupees is a lot of money and a normal salaried individual may not even be able to afford something like this.
Is longevity and preventive healthcare only meant to benefit the top 0.1% of humanity? I refuse to believe or support this.
Is anyone building in this space for billions of people rather than a few million worldwide who can afford this? I want to support you and talk to you!
We cannot let technology create another class and social divide in the society!
I can pay faff subscription just for this usecase alone.
If this scales, faff may realise it is more effective to deploy someone into corporator role. 😅
did one of the large VCs also get micro influencers to amp up the latest content pieces ? All over the feed.
I heard “EA sports it’s in the game” way too many in the office today.
One of them may have been from my laptop as well. 🫣

such a bad take. There is a reason they call it household and not family. How on earth can they differentiate between genuine use and abuse ? Someone will tomorrow argue that extended family living across 5 cities need to be considered one account.
Hey @netflix @NetflixIndia, why are you making it so difficult for families to share an account?
I live in Mumbai. My parents live in Delhi. We share one Netflix account because, of course, we’re a family.
I don’t share it with friends or extended family. Just my parents.
Yet every 10 days or so, we have to update the household and enter security codes just to get another 14 days of temporary access.
So, are you seriously saying parents and their children need separate Netflix plans just because they don't live under the same roof?
We’re talking about a family sharing one account, not strangers sharing passwords.
Get real, Netflix!
Been a long time since I felt story telling will get more and more important in hiring but this is crazy to the highest level.
Mind blowing thought process.
Hi, it's Darshita. I am a designer.
And I'm pitching myself in public 'cause I'm done with a year full of anxiety.
Everyone says design is dead and AI killed it. But the real parasite was hiding in plain sight.
So here's my film, DESIGN IS DEAD. She's bold, fearless and very PINK 💖
Hiring? My DMs are open.
everyone gossips but no one admits that they do.
recently got curious about why we like to gossip.
Interesting learnings stood out.
> Scalable way of staying in touch with your network which you can’t do 1-1. Highlights propagate faster through gossip.
> Reputation tracking for both right and wrong doings. Think of it like cheap policing construct.
> Status competition. Some use it as a tool to bring others down and feel good about themselves it.
what are other behaviours you’ve seen everyone do but not admit it ?
Credit to @curiouscartel for a post on gossip and rumour which got me intrigued.
What is the real definition of “deep-tech” here ?
Is predicting what stock to procure across thousands of dark stores, deep tech ?
Or, startup enabling large companies to purchase carbon credits, deep tech?
VCs are in the business of IRR and capital deployment at large will only follow its natural evolution.
My X feed is filled with househelp startups burning enormous amounts of capital to capture market share.
Meanwhile, I know multiple deep-tech startups generating significantly more revenue with far less burn, yet struggling to raise even a fraction of that capital.
To me, this is one of the biggest problems with our ecosystem.
We say we want to build products in India for the world, but we invest far less in the future than the US does.
We cannot become a deeptech powerhouse if our capital keeps chasing the present instead of funding the future.
