🚨 PERSONAL NEWS!
After almost ten years at @tatlerdininghk, I’ve joined @scmplifestyle as their new Food & Wine Editor. The incredible @susanjungfood left massive shoes to fill (not literally, ofc) and so please bear with me as I find my footing 😉

WATCH, READ, LISTEN: The South China Morning Post examined the Chinese new year staple “fat choy” and how its overharvesting has turned parts of China “into desert”.

Hong Kong is going mad over the news of Sara Lee (in Australia) going into voluntary administration. I checked and yes the cakes we get here are indeed manufactured in Aus (rather than the US, under the original company)… wonder who’s going to start hoarding pound cakes 😅
When Beef came out on @netflix earlier this year, the little cameo that Sara Lee pound cake made on the show inspired me to dive into how this everyday dessert seemed to be a collective memory for so many Asians: scmp.com/magazines/post-maga…
The aftermath from five years ago when we felt the force of #SuperTyphoonMangkhut.
I don’t remember feeling as afraid back then in my apartment… but tonight’s winds from #Saola really seem worse.
Scenes from #SuperTyphoonMangkhut's aftermath, at Island Resort and Siu Sai Wan Sports Ground. Never seen this scale of destruction here from a typhoon.
"Hong Kong is everything to me," says COA's Jay Khan, which won the top spot in @50BestBars for the third year running, this year on home turf. We love to see it!

So I wonder how long people can post links to their #Threads account 🤭

At one point, I would comfort myself imagining that at least 1 in 4 of those strangers standing in the carriage of the train, or sitting on the bus, or sat in a restaurant had been there that day in June 16, 2019, and remembered it too.
Time flies. 5 years ago, we lost Anthony Bourdain - but his legacy lives on. Loved this story by @chrismdwyer taking a look at how he impacted the lives and careers of 3 chefs in Hong Kong. Out in Post Magazine this Sunday! scmp.com/magazines/post-maga…
Had a lot of fun recording a reading of my story on the world-famous Sara Lee pound cake! Thanks @Jay_Watt and Jasmine for the support 😎

Sometimes I just love how I can leave my office in the middle of the day to buy snacks as part of my job 😂

Michelin Guide to Hong Kong and Macau 2023: 1 new 3-star restaurant, two more rise to 2-star status, 11 earn a first star, and there's a shock loss of a third star sc.mp/n3q1 #MichelinGuide #TaVie #Foodies #HongKong #MACAU
Back in Macau for the first in-person announcement of the HK and Macau Michelin stars for 2023 ✨ @scmplifestyle
I've been saying for a LONG time that restaurants such as Godenya and Neighborhood have been some serious Michelin omissions, and so I'm happy for them both that they have finally gained one star in 2023.
Quite surprised that Mosu (launched Apr 2022) is missing, same for Embla.
