'That Dark Spring' by @susannah_writes, is beautifully structured and perfectly paced and I couldn't stop reading it. It's going to take its place as a true crime classic.

Good read! Olive Branson, an artist and hotel owner, found dead in her Provence home in the 1920's. Was it suicide or murder? Beautifully written by @susannah_writes, in the swirl of village, judiciary, police involvement Olive is given her due and her personality shines bright.
This promises to be so much fun. 'Best for bookworms'! 📒🐛 I'll be there on the Friday at 4.30pm chatting about Women of True Crime with
@CaitlinDavies2 and @DanSmith_Writer and then I'm going to PLAY. Do come!

I'm organising a fundraiser for the DEC #Ukraine appeal in Much Wenlock (Priory Hall), close to Ironbridge in Shropshire.
If anyone can spare a cool raffle or tombola prize it would be hugely appreciated!

On #IWD2022 my thoughts are with Alexandra Ryabichkina (the grandmother from the heartrending PBS doc The Distant Barking of Dogs) and all 🇺🇦 women. Apparently, she and little Oleg have been evacuated from their village near Donetsk. I hope they are safe.

A brand new episode is out! @AngelaBarnes tells
@mrjohnofarrell all about Maud West, the famous lady private detective and master of disguise, who achieved a special kind of celebrity in a macho profession normally dependent on discretion and secrecy.

Oh to be in London to see the Ethel Gabain prints at @AbbottandHolder. "Between 1906 and 1930... there is a gradual shift from a sense of ennui in her early works, to an underlying strength and determination later on." ❤️

As below, but add 1 year to each queen’s age.
(I’ve pulled out all the stops this year. Woot.)
Happy birthday to TWO queens of crime today. Dear old Agatha, of course, at a sprightly 130, and also the intrepid Maud West at 140. I wish I could invite them both to tea. Just imagine all the tweed, the withering looks, the deadly silences...🖤🎂 #AgathaChristie #MaudWest

Always a pleasure to pass a ladies’ chambers. Inspires me to keep writing my book on these fabulous and empowering buildings!
It's cosy in the shed today: woolly socks, a thick cardi and wintry music as I write some Christmas scenes. Might crack open the brandy.
I generally read one chunkster of a book per year about societal stuff, and, after the early reviews, this is my choice for this year. Particularly looking forward to learning how God‘s various bits have shaped contemporary society. (Also, look at that cover!)
God (the book) lives! Here it is, in all its dazzling glory - with divine, shiny feet walking all over the cover and up the spine🦶Out 16 September🦶 #GodAnAnatomy @picadorbooks
I shall call him Marcel. ♥️

As a former oboist*, I am enthralled by this photo. I reckon you could manage a half-decent Twinkle Twinkle Little Star before your wrist gave out.
*Fun fact: I took up the oboe purely on the basis of the Miss Marple theme tune. Everything connects.

A self-portrait by the irrepressible, irreplaceable Una Stubbs, actor, artist and the soul of kindness. RIP.
What a lovely photo feature on all the people working at Dennis Severs' House. Slightly gutted to see that they have dusted, but I suppose it had to happen sometime.

An invigorating start to the week with @Rooneroo’s stunning performance of Bach’s Cantata No 51 as part of @StrettonFest. Now back to work, with the new knowledge that Bach wrote on average one cantata per week for over two years. No pressure.
