“It’s such a confidence trick, writing a novel. The main person you have to trick into confidence is yourself. This is hard to do alone.” — Zadie Smith #WritingCommunity #writing

Some days, I feel stuck in fear—until something reminds me I'm not alone. I often find that reminder in nature and animals. Here's a story about a mangy coyote who keeps me going in dark moments. #amwriting suzannestrobel.com/how-a-los…

I’m adding my voice in support of @fred_guttenberg and everyone who has had a loved one murdered or injured by gun violence. If Congress doesn’t act NOW, it won’t be long before most Americans experience their pain first-hand. #GunReform #GunControlNow
.@fred_guttenberg is right. And he shouldn't have to be addressing this. But because his daughter, Jaime, was senselessly shot and killed, he is among the many, many Americans for whom gun violence is personal. 44% of Americans know someone who was shot. That is unacceptable.

I am heartbroken to announce that my Dad, my hero, Kevin Mahoney, was killed in the King Soopers shooting in my hometown of Boulder, CO. My dad represents all things Love. I'm so thankful he could walk me down the aisle last summer.

We aren’t numb - over 90% of Americans support stronger gun laws. It’s a handful of US Senators beholden to the gun lobby who have refused to act. The Second Amendment wasn’t meant to be a suicide pact. ACT: act.everytown.org/sign/Senat…

As a woman who has many great men in my life, including three young stepsons, I think #LifeWithoutMenWouldBe really sad. And as an author who spent years researching male-pattern violence, gender roles, and power imbalances, I think there’s a lot of pain in this conversation.

I don’t know why this hashtag is trending but I know there’s a problem. Sarah Everard wasn’t safe walking home the evening of March 3. The women who went to work at their massage spas in Atlanta weren’t safe. All the women who found the courage to say #MeToo weren’t safe.

This is not about men being bad and women being good. It’s about facing the problems of violence and abuse of power, together. Let’s look for solutions instead of pointing fingers.
Women are raised to believe self-sacrifice is a good and honorable quality. But what is the need to be "selfless" costing us? Our voices? Our dreams? Our lives? Read more: suzannestrobel.com/why-self-… #InternationalWomensDay

Who else is excited to hear @TheAmandaGorman recite an original poem at #SuperBowlLV on Sunday? Maybe America is entering a new Renaissance where we value (and find healing in) poetry, art, and creativity. Check it out in my new blog: suzannestrobel.com/finding-h…

To the six people who bravely scaled steep terrain to conduct this childish prank...thanks. I needed that laugh. 😂
