she’s so full of life and freedom and excited to show her mom a new way of living and you’re telling me that wanting to build that life by herself makes her her own enemy?? sooo the problem isn't women choosing their own happiness it's them refusing to put that happiness in someone else's hands right??
i love the side of ig that actually educates u!! came across this reel yesterday and found it so interesting how hollywood and major franchises have shaped people’s perceptions of regions like asia, their cultures, customs and even physical features and it made me think about how latin america gets the same treatment, how we’re all reduced to the same stereotypes, like some kind of dehumanization and its scary how much these portrayals shape people’s perceptions of places they’ve never actually experienced but go listen to this queen she explains it sm better!!! instagram.com/reel/DfNLvftsf…
we can question how quickly her feelings shifted but there’s more to this scene than just showing her interest in zeeshan, this time she’s drawn to someone who has the qualities she actually looks for, someone she’s choosing bc she wants to not bc she needs to, w tabish she saw an idealized way out of her circumstances but now she can make choices based on her own desires, that doesn’t mean she isn’t idealizing zeeshan too but at least this time it comes from what she wants not what she needs to run away from #hurmat
a male character does something questionable for the 50th time: well that’s wrong 🥺 but maybe it's his trauma and his fears!! poor thing show him some empathy pls!!
a female character does something questionable for the first time: RED FLAG!!!! she's the villain of the story 🤬🤬 burn her at the stake if possible
the scenes between hurmat and her mother in today’s ep were so necessary and yet so painful bc you can feel how her mother is still trapped by trauma and under hurmat’s father’s control, even now that he’s no longer around and it’s so frustrating to watch hurmat as a daughter trying to open her eyes and make her understand that there’s a better life out there not just for her but for both of them #hurmat
love how hurmat is not everyone’s cup of tea and how she’s written as such a psychologically complex character that you genuinely can’t tell whether her decisions come from genuine desire or are constantly shaped by her circumstances and above all, her need to escape something!! she’s not a one dimensional predictable character and that’s something you don’t often get to see in female characters!! can you question her? disagree with the decisions she makes or even dislike them? absolutely!! i do that myself sometimes but that’s the whole point of the show, it makes you think whether for better or worse and not every script manages to do that
