Look, I joined Mastodon in April and don’t really get it. If you’re over there, I’m @swisslet@mas.to. I’d love to see you there and create a genuine alternative.

I have to say, after briefly popping back to leave a message for someone, I miss (some of) the people here, and I miss what it was…. But it’s an unusable shithole, isn’t it?

Absolutely made up to receive this in the post this morning from @scottlavene - happy to do my bit and excited for the music to come!

“Ugh, it’s fucking Christmas”, says my wife. “Oh, does that coincide with actual Christmas this year?” #Xmas

This site is borderline unusable at the best of times. And now? Well, this guy is a genius, so what would I know about it? [heads back to mastodon].

Are the incessant promoted tweets included in my ration?

You honestly couldn’t kill a site more effectively if you tried.

I see racists are now saying that France’s supposed descent into anarchy is the fault of the EU. To be clear, does this mean it isn’t now a safe country and that people escaping in small boats will be welcome?

Your regular reminder that British public information films were like brutal horror films condensed into 30 second chunks, and shown during primetime (and children's) TV shows.

Belatedly watched Godless on Netflix (it’s been on my watchlist for literally 5 years). Utterly brilliant television allowed to breathe and develop slowly over 7 episodes. Outstanding. Also, the boy from Derby is superb.

Campbell-Bannerman is either a disingenuous arsehole or massively, massively stupid. Maybe both. Ah, it’s both, isn’t it? This Tory shitshow would be funny if it wasn’t the country that’s collateral damage to their bullshit. #Newsnight

Just look at the faces of the members in the Lords Long Room as the players head onto the pitch. This is the size of the problem English cricket faces.

I’ve been slow to realise this, but this thread has made it clear to me that, for some people at least, this whole debate is basically cover for homophobes to let rip under the pretence they care. Fuck those people. Also, the patience in the zoo’s replies show good people exist

Finding it onerous to block promoted ads here? Go block everyone @StoreScams follows and you’ll get hundreds of them in one easy to find list. Although, the more I block, the more entertainingly weird the ones that remain seem to become.

Just back from watching the last knockings of the women’s Ashes test at Trent Bridge. I attended days 1-3 and today and it was an absorbing game right to the end. Well played Australia and commiserations to England, but what a great advert for the women’s game & @TrentBridge.

I ended up sitting amongst the England players’ parents today, which was a bit weird. Weirder still when the players themselves headed over after the presentation. They all looked so tired and disappointed…. But they did themselves proud.
