If you ever find yourself in this situation in China, make sure you respond like he did or simply walk away. But under no circumstance should you retaliate. If you don’t get sued, that whole crowd around there might beat you down.
I once found myself in the back of a police car all because a man bothered me at the gym and I told him to mind his business. He was so angered by my response, he immediately called the police, claimed I was in China illegally and wanted me to be deported right away. All because he wanted me to be quiet at 5am in a 24hr gym because the security guy was sleeping. I wasn’t even making noise. He was just being a racist.
Overall, China is a very good country but never allow yourself to be baited by the racist ones. They will make your life a living hell. Chinese people stick together, the police will detain you before confirming any details and I was fortunate that I was still with my baby at the time. She came and the climate suddenly changed. All of a sudden there were excuses and calls for a harmless misunderstanding.

DJ Sbu faces R15.9 million tax headache after SARS court victory
Media personality and businessman DJ Sbu is facing a tax bill of almost R16 million after the South African Revenue Service (SARS) reportedly obtained a default judgment against him at the Johannesburg High Court.
The development follows SARS issuing a final letter of demand to the Mo Faya energy drink founder on 25 June 2026, seeking payment of R15.7 million.
The amount is believed to have increased by approximately R200 000 by the time the revenue service secured the judgment about two weeks ago.
According to Africa Daily, which reported on the court judgment, the outstanding debt comprises more than R8.2 million in unpaid personal income tax, over R7.6 million in interest and R60 500 in administrative penalties.
DJ Sbu, whose real name is Arthur Sibusiso Leope, was reportedly given 10 business days to settle the amount or explore available debt-relief options. These included negotiating an instalment payment arrangement, applying for suspension of payment while disputing the assessment, or requesting a compromise on part of the debt.
SARS also warned that failure to address the outstanding amount could result in further recovery measures, including approaching third parties holding money on his behalf and obtaining a warrant allowing the sheriff to attach and sell his assets.
Interest would continue accumulating on the outstanding debt.
