Resilience is not always about staying with the same plan for longer. 🌟If repeated customer evidence keeps showing weak demand, poor conversion or no meaningful improvement, persistence can quietly turn into spending more time and money on an approach that is not working. The stronger move may be to stay committed to the problem while changing how you solve it, who you target or how you reach them. Resilience is also knowing when the evidence is telling you to adapt. 👉 Follow @bMightie for more founder intelligence for idea to early revenue businesses to build and grow with better clarity and confidence for takeoff.

💡How to know if the customer is ready to buy? Often once the questions move from features, benefits, and promised outcomes to more about how it works post-purchase in terms of process, timeline, and customer experience. 🌟 It’s a sign that the customer has more or less decided that out of the options they have, they would likely go with this and is mentally picturing what happens after they buy and whether that’s reasonable and still attractive.

One of the best signs of customer interest is their increasing commitment and engagement. 🌟 It could be - spending more time learning about your offer, - opening up more access to them, - staying subscribed, - booking a demo or discovery call, - looping in another decision maker, and more.

New businesses don’t take off overnight. The idea needed time to be refined, built, tested, improved, launched, relaunched 🤯 A founder’s first job is to ensure there’s enough cash in bank to last this process and however many times it has to be repeated until the business takes off 🌟

One of the vital founder tests for idea viability is market access 🌟 👉 If founders can’t affordably or easily access their target market, it will be hard for their new business to survive till takeoff.

Expert-turned-entrepreneurs often risk becoming tunnelvisioned into focusing only on building what they want to build, rather than what the market will actually buy, not just excited when it’s available for free 🤯

One of the frustrating things about gaining more customer evidence is that your business can become harder to read, not easier 🤯 You may end up with several customer types showing interest, a few channels producing sales and multiple messages that seem to work, without any one pattern being strong enough to clearly back. When the numbers are still small, more data can create more ambiguity. That is where founder judgment starts to matter more. 🌟 Look for repeated behaviours in conversations, hesitation, urgency and ease of buying, then use those patterns to decide which promising direction deserves a deeper test rather than trying to optimise everything at once. 👉 Follow @bMightie for more founder intelligence for idea to early revenue businesses to build and grow with better clarity and confidence for takeoff.

Repeatability means you can get a similar result through roughly the same path more than once. The same type of customer finds you in a similar way, buys for similar reasons and receives value without you having to reinvent the whole process each time. 🌟 That matters because scaling something inconsistent usually just creates more inconsistency at a bigger size. Before you try to grow faster, look for the customer journey that is already starting to repeat, then build from there. 👉 Follow @bMightie for more founder intelligence for idea to early revenue businesses to build and grow with better clarity and confidence for takeoff.

Adding more products, customer segments, marketing channels, people or technology can feel like a natural next step when you're trying to grow your business. But every addition also creates more work, costs and complexity for the founder to manage 🤯 For an early-stage business with limited resources, expanding too early can actually make it harder to build traction and identify what's working. 👇 Inside this week's Before Takeoff - bit.ly/bt-when-to-ramp-up-or…, I break down: → Why a promising new opportunity is not automatically a good reason to expand → How to identify the actual constraint limiting your business growth before adding something new → Why your existing business needs to be working reasonably well before you multiply it → How additional revenue can come with weaker margins, more operating costs and greater founder workload → Why hiring, automation and additional marketing channels can make existing problems worse → How to test the smallest version of an expansion before making expensive, difficult-to-reverse commitments → The signs that your business is genuinely ready for another offer, customer segment, hire, or system 👉 ✈️ Subscribe to Before Takeoff for weekly founder intelligence for the solo and bootstrapped journey from day zero to takeoff: beforetakeoff.substack.com

Getting more customers does not always make an early business clearer 🤯 🌟Sometimes it does the opposite. Your first few buyers may want different outcomes, use the product differently or value completely different parts of what you built. The useful move is to resist overreacting to every new signal. Keep watching who buys, why they buy and what they repeatedly use, then wait for patterns to show up across multiple customers before changing the product or positioning around them. 👉 Follow @bMightie for more founder intelligence for idea to early revenue businesses to build and grow with better clarity and confidence for takeoff.

It's possible to have a business where everyone is busy, meetings are happening, tasks are getting completed, and new initiatives are constantly being launched, yet the business is barely moving forward 🤯 🌟 More activity, if it's focused on the right things and executed well, should eventually improve business outcomes. If you're not seeing progress or results, it's worth looking at whether you're → working on the right problems, → measuring activity instead of outcomes, → constantly changing priorities, or → having bottlenecks that block the work from progressing. Review as well whether some activities are happening simply because they keep you and the team feeling busy and productive. 👉 If your business feels stuck and you need a second brain or pair of hands, I offer 1-1 coaching and fractional Strategy, Growth & Ops support. Testimonials tell potential customers that someone was happy. 🌟Case studies and reference customers can do something more useful: show that your product worked for someone facing a similar problem, with similar constraints. That relevance becomes especially valuable when you are trying to grow into a new segment. One strong customer story from the right market can make the next buyer feel far more confident than a long collection of generic praise. 👉 Follow @bMightie for more founder intelligence for pre-to-early revenue businesses to build and grow with better clarity, confidence, and judgement for takeoff.
