AI labs use “Zero Data Retention” to build trust with enterprises, but by default your data sits on their servers for 30 days in plain text, open to analysis, breaches, etc. It should really be called 30-day retention and I can’t believe we’ve normalized this...

I study a lot of crypto projects. Many sound great on the surface and get less interesting the deeper you dig.
NEAR is the opposite.
Why NEAR did not need bunker mode, and has had post-quantum account keys on mainnet since July 20, in Illia's words:
"We designed NEAR with quantum in mind in 2018." The account model lets you rotate keys, hold several at once, and mix cryptographic schemes. "I literally wrote that code. It takes about 200 lines to add a new cryptographic curve."
So when the key-recovery papers started dropping this year, post-quantum was a new curve, not a new chain. ML-DSA went to mainnet in July. Any user rotates in one click, no asset move, no new address, no tax event.
Other chains are writing roadmaps. NEAR wrote the extension point eight years ago.

worried about quantum attacks?
$NEAR is already built for this
post-quantum cryptography, hidden public keys and the ability to manage assets across bitcoin, ethereum and other chains through near(.)com
@ilblackdragon:
“you can have your @NEARProtocol account with post quantum cryptography holding it”
“you can hold all these assets. you can trade. you can be private as well, which hides your public key”
“you don’t need to worry about it”

Replying to @drakefjustin
Anyone with a NEAR account can add a quantum-safe FIPS-204 (ML-DSA) key on mainnet today in one transaction, and keep their account and its assets. NEAR wallets like Meteor also support quantum-safe signing.

the formal near:native issuance proposal went up today.
Same cut, 2.5% to 1.6% over 24 months.
SVRN @svrn_ai now puts its own cost at about 855K NEAR a year in lost staking rewards and says it will vote YES.
And it may not be alone.
Sal says he’s been talking with @NEARProtocol liquid-staking protocols. Lower staking yield means less commission revenue for them too, but his report is that they’re generally on board. Some apparently think the two-year ramp is too slow, but the draft kept the two years.
None of this proves a scarcer NEAR will be worth more.
But some of the businesses getting paid by issuance seem willing to be paid less of it.

"Watching @ilblackdragon build @NEARProtocol is a little like watching Elon Musk build SpaceX."
@Matt_Hougan on why NEAR is one of the most ambitious projects in crypto:
